I have an 08 P2 dual console. When I bought the boat, it had a Motorguide tour 24v on the front and no graph on the bow. The boat came with a 26P Trophy Plus and it had group 27 lead acid trolling batteries and a group 29 starter. On the test drive the holeshot was very quick even with two in the boat and a half tank of gas.
Got the boat home, added an Ultrex, Helix 10, Garmin 93SV and Livescope, and a bunch of fishing gear. Changed the batteries to a group 31 starter and 2 80AH lithiums for the troller. Even with 2 people, gear, and full tank of gas it would get moving but the holeshot suffered a bit, top out about 68 loaded down. I added Mega 360 to the bow last year as well.
I just picked up a 24p Trophy Plus that I am going to throw on there to test this spring as I was only getting 5200 or so RPM so about 500 short of max RPM on the 200 Opti. Hoping to get it back into the sweet spot on the motor but also hoping to get some of the holeshot back. I fish with my girlfriend or a different partner almost 100% of the time. I think I have had the boat out 2 times in the last 2 years of ownership by myself, and we often have a third person in there with us. Most of the lakes we fish are too small to run top speed for more than a minute or two and some of them have a 40mph speed limit, so I am hoping the 24 will help with the holeshot and midrange acceleration and control. I will be sure to post results as soon as I get out to run it. We have a foot and a half of ice on our lakes up here right now but that will go quick with 70’s and 80’s this week.
Take care, TDobb
