Ok, first of all i want to say im in awe of my buddy Daves new 2008 Puma. One of the first ever i think to arrive in the west coast via Mossdale Marine. All i can say is WOW, i want to sell my 06 Cougar and get a new Cougar FTD or Puma. To those at the factory that built this boat, good job and my hats off to you for such a sweet boat. It was the Maroon, candy brandy wine looking boat with the silver lighting bolt trimmed in Gold and black..dont worry pics to come..at any rate since my buddy is somewhat computer illiterate, i thougt i would ask these question on his behalf since he is a new memeber to the family. Question one: With the CD player being mounted underneath the console, was there to be a remote control to the cd player to be sent with the boat or for future builds will one be provided for ease of use. Reason is my buddy is about in his mid 60s and its hard for him to bend down to load the cd, change the channel or control the volume. Hell im half his age and smaller in size and I still had to really bend down to see underneath the console to change the CD or work the controls. I understand that this location may have been best suited for customers not to bang the CD with nets, rods, bad cast and so on, but for ease of use its not so easy. What are most folks doing with this new desing for CD location on the new Puma? Question 2: I understand that the PSI gauge may not be a standard option since its part of the engine, but how would he know he does not have water pressure when running low tide on the delta over grass or weed flats? I told him the Guardian system on the mercury opti would probably beep and possibly shut the engine down, but he was curious why this is not a standard feature? My boat has it but im sure i may have paid for it not knowing it. At any rate if one was to be installed, about how much would it run him and is it important to have? Question 3: He thought he was to get a couple of rods for ordering the boat and or Jacket and Cap. Im assured him the dealer is probably ordering his jacket with his name and cap from BCB but wasnt sure about the rod promo if one exist. I though i saw a posting on the forum here that described about a rod promo. He wants to know because the dealer did not mention anything and would like the rods if available as per the promo. Please advise..ok, thats about it. He is very happy with the boat and has started the break in period and Saturday we are taking the boat out to get baptise it….with bass juice! LOL. But yes he has been sitting in his boat for hours every night before he goes to bed..funny i think we all have done when we first got our boat, well atleast i know i did..LOL. Anyways if BCB or the regular veterans of this forum can help answer, that would be great. thanks, Gabe
Cool! We think your friends boat is the one they took out of the mold while the Owners of Mossdale Boats were here. They took photos of it to send to him. They were pretty excited to just be here to get the images for him. 1. The stereo is probably the standard model and it is not compatible with a remote. The location was to remove it from the elements and this is a location we used years ago and returned to that for the reasons mentioned. 2. The WP Gauge should be in the SC Gauges if he has those, though if he does not, it is an order item and must be ordered. Some prefer to just used the heat guardian sensing system. Not many places have the grass flats and places like the Delta and Guntersville or some Florida and Seminole areas are like that and a WP Gauge is nice. Have him scroll through the SC gauge menus, and he should find a WP indication there. On a grass reservoir they are nice, though on a mountain reservoir most never use them. 3. There are no promotions running at this time. Those were boat show promotions and they have not been established yet. We have not addressed those, and they usually come out for sales after January 15th to compete with other organizations offers. He will get a BCB Jacket and Hat which are standard with every boat. And BCB Is the only company we are aware of which offers a hat and jacket from the manufacturer on every boat. We hope this answers most of your questions and we hope you both enjoy your Bass Cats. The new 2008 hulls are a nice ride, and you will learn that as you spend time with him. Thanks for asking! BCB
thanks for the response and yes it was the boat that came out of the mold when Steve and the other folks from Mossdale came up and took pics. I personally love the boat although its not mine, but this was his first basscat he has owned coming from a Triton so he was curious as to the question i asked for him. I told him he needs to just get out and enjoy the boat and dont worry about the small stuff. His boat did not have the smart craft gauge or WP gauge so he will just have to use the guardian to protect him At any rate he does not fish tourmaments like myself and i told him not to worry to much about the grass since he will not venture into shallow flats on low tide to find fish as I do. Just to clarify as I have not seen the specs on the new 2008 or catalog but there was mention in a post here that the boarding ladder would be a standard item on the premium model boats on the jackplate. Is that so? I dont think i saw a ladder on his Puma but that is not a concern, just a question as he thought when he ordered it he was getting a complete package as advertised by the dealer. A question for me also as im helping him learn how to use touch pad buttons; what are the 3 button pad used for? it has pump in, pumpout and security? I understand the pump out and in, but what is the security feature? My guess its for the lids on the compartments but I tried to arm it and it did not work. Please help. I got his GPS dialed in and such, but that is the last step and he should be golden for our trip on saturday. with respect to the CD, thanks but just my 2 cents as a customer i think a remote would be helpfull for future boats for ease of use. An upgraded stereo with remote should not be that much more $$ wise, or most folks like myself would install my own CD changer unit with remote. thanks, g
The remote is an upgrade and a totally different head unit and speakers. The small touch pad security system he will need to speak to Service or his dealer on how to operate that. We dont release that information here. It should have an E Ladder on the jack plate. It is a Pivoting ladder with two pegs on the left side of the plate. There is a small red button to pull to activate the step. The Merc warning system will work fine if he clogs the intakes. The gauges were probably order as analog for his personal preference as there is no learning curve. The Smart Craft would have gotten him his WP gauge, though he would have ordered that with those gauges. The standard gauge package is Speedo, Tach, Volt & Fuel. Smart Craft, Trim, Water Pressure and other gauges are in those options as per the preference of the dealer or customer. BCB
