2009 Pantera Classic prop question

Just got my 09 Classic with 200 optimax. After break-in can only run about 5000 rpms wot. At this point Im at 1/4 trim. Cant trim any higher or chine walk gets out of control. Running a 26 Fury. Any suggestions on what I should do? Thought maybe I should try a 25 pitch to see if I can get more rpms. By the way, at 5000 rpms, 1/4 trim, WOT, Im running about 68 with myself and parter, full fuel tanks, and light tournament load. I expect to run low 70s with this load if I can get the rpms where they should be. Thanks for any suggestions and help.

I would verify you are actually at full thottle. Do you have a hot foot? You need to make sure you throttle plate in the intake is fully open when hot foot is fully depressed. I have the same set up (08) and I am all over rev limitor with a 26 tempest. I know the 26 Fury is a little steeper pitch but your rpm should be a bit higher still with the Fury prop. Verify WOT is being reached by physically looking at the throttle plate while hot foot (or regular remote throttle) is being fully depressed.

Seat time is all you need. Get to where you can drive the boat and then worry about the prop. The numbers do sound a little funny but before you can start messing with things you really need to learn how to control the boat at WOT. There are some great articles on BBC regarding driving and I am sure your dealer will help if they are made aware of the problem. Good luck, you have a hotrod just be patient and learn to do the waltz you will be flyin in no time. Judd Lasiter

Probably burying the bow at present. As you come up on the trim, the hull will “loosen up” once the bow gets out of the water, and that is where you have to learn to drive the boat to avoid the onset of oscillation. Until you can drive it with the trim set so that the motor appears to be at 90 degrees to the surface of the water, dont worry about the prop. That is a pretty stout prop, but it ought to fly once you learn to drive it, and get the motor height adjusted optimally.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

Its not the prop. Learn how to drive and youll surpass your expectations. I suspect 75.

We think they are all in line on the comment of seat time. The RPM and performance numbers you are sharing indicate that the speeds are hampered by the range you are able to drive it. Take little steps on learning to drive this rig and it will come to you. Does your dealer have an adequate hand there who could give you driving lessons, and where are you located? BCB

Im located in Oklahoma. The dealer is S and D Boats in Shawnee, Ok. After seeing the post above about “how not to drive a boat”, Im a little leary of driving through the chine. I will work on it though.
