2011 PII set up help…again

I have not posted in a while. And Im looking for a “refresher” on the proper set up for my rig. I have a Pro XS 200, 8″ slide master, tempest plus 25p. My jackplate was originally set around 3/4″ high. Last year I dropped it down flush. Before I dropped the jp, I was getting 68 mph. I dropped it flush and it has been running between 66-67 mph. I have been lazy and left the motor at this height. Now the boat is has some hours. So, I have raised it back to the original height. I carry a light load, with usually less then 1/2 a tank of fuel. If I can only manage 68 mph, should I leave it at 3/4″ and be done with it? Or, is there more left in this set up Im not tapping into? If 68 is the realistic number, Im ok with it. I just see too many posting better numbers. Any advice is greatly appreciated…..i.e prop selection, rpms, water pressure. Thanks for your time and help.

The Tempest is a standard propeller, though a Pantera II can use other propellers more efficiently in some cases. The Fury is often a better solution in 25″ and for some even a 26″. We have also used a Trophy to receive good results. They are like people, their characteristics, attitudes and preferences are all different. Of ourse opinion are as well, which is where people often get messed up. We would try another propeller.

Im running 69 @ 5735 with a 25 Fury. Thats with 2 people and 3/4s fuel load. Right now thats my comfort zone. Above that I start to chine and still learning to drive it.

Your numbers sound about like what Im expecting. Solo with 1/4 to 1/2 a tank I was hoping for 71-72 mph. It never was a big deal until I was outrun last week in a tx. Both of us going to the same hole. It was a 10 mile run. End result, the other guy wins the tourney on the fish we both found.

25 fury, flush – 1/4″ above flush and dont over trim……….This is the ticket.

I think there is more left with your current prop. I was able to break 72 with a 25 Tempest in the summer time and hit the limiter. What is your WOT rpms now? Do you have any steering torque? I would keep moving the plate up 1/4 inch at a time and watch your rooster tail(even with the top of the cowling). As you move the plate up youll probably need less trim.

Thanks for the photo. What is the height on that? Chris, please look at GRs photo. That appears to be at least 1 inch. Im I looking in the right place?

No wonder!!!!!! I had the back area flush. My motor is way too low.
