May not want to be seen in an old power wagon, but the new trucks are sharp and will out pull anything government motors can produce.
Good Looking truck, what kind of gas mileage? JR
Dont know.It only comes with the 383 HP 5.7L Hemi with dual VVT and 5-speed auto tranny (545RFE) in terms of powertrain, since it is a very specialized trim. You get large all-terrain tires, 4WD with rear AND front dif lockers (most trucks only offer rear lockers on 4×4 models), transfer case and oil pan skid plates (and probably more plates), 4.56 rear axle, and heres one youve never heard of: Electronically disconnecting sway bars. The truck electronically senses when its appropriate to disconnect the sway bars for optimal off-road articulation, and reconnects them seemlessly. It is BY FAR the most off-road capable pick-up truck. The Ford F150 Rapter is the next closest.Lately, F-series and Ram has increased sales but not Silverado.I would love to pull my Cat with one of these!
Yeah but its still an ugly Dodge! J/K

The newer Dodges do get better mileage as long as they are not heavy half tons.
Im not a dodge cheerleader, but the new ones drive very well. I recently decided to keep my 06 cummins with the old 5.9L, but I drove a lot of others before I came to that conclusion. The new dodges and the new F250s are both very sharp and are geared towards pulling a large load.

It will out tow and haul them all. Not even close. You have to go to a Dodge 3500 to reach the Chevy standard 2500 HD towing/hauling capacity. The Ford F250 w/ Power Joke wont tow but 14,000lbs.Ram 2500 specs:Towing capacity: Up to 13,450 pounds[1]Payload capacity: Up to 3,160 poundsRam 3500 specs:Towing capacity: Up to 17,600 pounds[1] (Late availability)Payload capacity: Up to 5,130 pounds[2]Last edited by Bama96 on February 16th, 2011, 1:34 am, edited 1 time in total.
Not necessarily. Ratings and hooking em up are totally different topics. Hookem up to see!
Thats cool Bama. I just couldnt bring myself to purchase from govt motors. The ford was too much $$. The dodge was alright, all things considered. I opted to put a little $ in mine, keep my low payments and live with it. I will say that none of the trucks I drove will run like the old 5.9L I have thats already been tweaked a little bit. Its ugly. Its stupid loud. It will also easily pull anything Ill ever hook up to it. Ill occasionally need to pull just over 10,000lbs and with a little black smoke it walk away with ease. (it also stops it). No sir, I dont have a truck complex. Mine does what I need it to do and it does it well. Haha……….poke fun at my boat and we may have an issue!!

I have a 2009 and been shopping for a new 2011. Just stating the facts on the new 2011s. My mom was a 35 year GM employee, now retired. I guess I am biased too.Last edited by Bama96 on February 16th, 2011, 2:01 am, edited 1 time in total.
It seems like most of you are Chevy loyalist which is fine ( I own a 2007 z-71 with the 5.3) but the last time I checked GM also took the Feds $$$$….which makes them just like Dodge…..and as far as gas mileage goes who bleeping cares, if you are worried about gas mileage go buy a Prius and hook up to a tin boat with a 9.9 4 banger. Sorry about the rant, but every truck has their ups and downs..and if I were to buy a new truck right now it WOULD be a new F250 cuz they are the only AMERICAN company that didnt take the easy way out.
I have to agree with aceshi. Thats part of the reason I couldnt bring myself to buy new. Being self employed changes how I viewed the whole process. Principle has never interfered with my buying process before! Sucks cause personally I love the way the power wagon in the pick looks and Im sure its a great truck. Also, if I ever see a Prius at the boat ramp, Ill take a pic and post it for sure!! — sorry tswanson, Im done

Second, everyone is so hard on these companies taking the bailout money but if you had a company that was going under you wouldnt hesitate to take it too. Three, if GM and Chrysler wouldnt have taken it do you know how many wouldve been laid off? That would help the economy!! Four, the only reason Ford didnt take the bailout $$$ is because they borrowed a big chunk elsewhere before it was offered. Five, Ford changes diesel engines like babies change diapers. As soon as they start to get the kinks worked out they change, and now theyre building thier own diesel engine. Ill let you be the guinea pig on that one. I work on them everyday and for fuel mileage, repair costs, ease of maintenance, and just an all around great truck Id buy another GM tomorrow. If you dont think maintenance is an issue do a little research on spark plug replacement on say an 04 and newer F150/ 5.4 L. It could cost you over a grand at the Ford dealership.
