2012 Cougar alarm problems

I have a 2012 Cougar advantage… When i turn on the security alarm the light on the console blinks but when any compartment is opened it wont sound Any Ideas? I did recently turn off my master power switch for the first time and had to flip it on and off several times to get my compartment lights to go from blinking to staying on .. dont know if these issues are related?

The system is not arming. You either have a compartment that is not fully closed, or a bad module.When the system is armed the light will be steady red.

Since its tied to the lids, and so are the lights, and youre having light problems too, It sounds like if you solve the light issue, the alarm issue will fix itself…BCB doesnt like to discuss alarm problems in too much detail here on the open forum, b/c lurkers will then know how to cut it off and get in your boat.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods

The flashing light is an indicator on some models that a circuit is open. Try to figure out which boat is not getting dark.

I made sure all compartment lids were closed and latched.. turned off/on master power switch … the alarm wont set, the indicator light just blinks as well as my compartment lights.. any more ideas?

It is one of the compartment lid switches that is open. Often the seats and can be one of the compartments. BCB

^ Meaning your lid might not be open, but the switch itself is sticking open. At least I think thats what they mean. Thats my next guess as a solution to the problem as well.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods

Most of the time when there is a problem with a switch on a compartment it is the one under the driver or passenger seats. You may want to inspect these well and make sure they are able to push all the way down when the seat lids are shut. Not sure if the Cougar is the same as my 2012 PII, but the tackle storage box switch is depressed with the underneath side of the lid and foam layered covering and not by a metal plate or the back side of the lid. My foam layered covering became indented by the switch and doesnt always activate.
