2013 p2 slow

Need a little help with my new p2, It has a 200 pro xs and I am running a 25 fury. My top speed is 68Mph and I recalled on the smartcraft gauges my rpms were 5830. I have the jackplate set about an inch Above flush. Holeshot is crazy awesome doesnt matter if everything is full or not. Ive tried a 25 tempest plus Not much different as far as speed goes. Do I need to lower the jackplate to get it in the 70 mph range, Ive raised it Higher than it is and didnt change much. Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of load are you running? Full of tackle and fuel? Are you a large person vs. small? There are many variables that must be considered as well–weather, water temp., elevation, etc.

My load is light to medium as far as tackle and rods go, Ive been fishing in the mornings with air temps around 60 or lowerI weigh about 190 Im 6 foot tall. My second storage in the middle is empty and the passenger side rear box is empty. With this load half a tank Of fuel and empty wells I feel I should be running 70.

Work with your dealer on this one. Experience with the BCB brand is crucial on the set-ups. Did you buy thru S & D ? Plate is to high for a Fury which likes to run deeper. Id drop it to 1/4″ below flush and then move up/down from there 1/8″ to 1/4″ at a time. Ive found 1/8″ makes difference believe it or not. I have the Classic which is same hull but a little lighter. At least till I load half of BPS inventory on board. Chris and a few others are the gurus on PIIs, Im sure they will help out.

Yes I did buy this boat from s&d I had a cougar before this boat and it was used so it was already set up I kinda set this p2 up like it was. I will lower the plate and run it in the morning and see if this changes anything. Does the rpms seem high to anyone for only running 68 mph?

Yes, too much prop slip, lower to flush, or tad below, may still need a 26p.

RobertC,Based on what you have posted, may I suggest that you follow schodackbassmans suggestion. For starters, I would set the jack plate with the inner plate 1/8 of an in below flush. This will bring your rpms down, but it may provide less slippage and more prop bite. Keep in mind you may need a 26 fury instead. One other note–while I have only run the fury twice on my boat, it does not want too much trim like the tempest does. When this prop is overtrimmed, the pII dropped 2 mph–just an observation.Hope this helps,CarkyLast edited by cef1965 on September 12th, 2012, 8:55 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Cooler weather and lighter loads will let you spin a 26 as Carky mentioned. Thats what I have but Im in the northeast and we dont have the heat/heavy air many on here fish in.
