I have a 2013 P4 with Merc 200. Im going to install (or have installed) 2 powerpole blades. My questions is where to mount the pumps. From the rear of the boat i have the 2 trolling batteries and kicker tank on the left. On the right is the oil tank and cranking battery. That leaves the rear pedestal and a small area on the rear of the storage box to the right of the oil tank. The way i see it is one pump on the pedestal and the other pump on the rear of the storage box (hard to get to). Am I overlooking any ideas? Thought I would ask in case im not thinking of some other way. Also, will the 4 hydraulic lines all run inside the motor rigging tube? Any ideas, suggestions, photos would be appreciated.
I have a PIV with 1 PP, I have the Signature Series with the older pump, The new C Monster pump for the Blades may be too heavy and not fit the way I was able to rig mine. I put the pump on the drivers side of the sump, I placed it where I still had access to the pumps, it is screwed next to the oil tank and overhangs the sump some. I ran the 2 lines through the rigging tube.Last edited by mike dominick on May 7th, 2013, 7:17 pm, edited 1 time in total.
BCB puts the pumps on the backside of the rear boxes. The guys that tolerate me here locally took a piece of sheet shaped like an L and put two big nuts through the lip of my rear opening and also put a concave wooden section to keep it nicely against the seat pedastal. I will send you pics.Makes it real easy to pull pumps(just take out 2 bolts) and everything comes out in 5″. Can get to batteries as well once this is out.BCB install is really nice but pumps a little hard to get to and batteries easier to get to.My install any shop can do and really works well- put up pics.C.O.D. Ward- pics would be great if possibleThe left storage box is out due to the kicker tank and 2 batteries on that side. The right side storage box far right half is open but the left side is blocked by the oil tank unfortunately.
Peersonally i would recommend doing something like Dave did for his charger, you can do the same thing and mount the PP pumps there or mount the oil tank to the bridge and PP pumps where the oil tank is currently. The key here is that its still an easy removal if you need to change out one of the bilgepumps/livewell pumps. If mounting the PP pumps to the bridge just make sure to leave enough HYD hose so that if you had to move them out of the way you still have enough slack in the hoses.http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/229 … ge-Install
I have a P4 with 4 batteries and the kicker tank on the passenger side and still had plenty of room for the 2 pumps that run the 8ft blades that I have. I will post a picture to show you the mounting that I used.
If you mount the pumps to where the hose connections face inward, you can run the hydraulic lines in where your hydraulic steering lines come out from the boat, in and around the batteries and tank and hook them to the pump on the opposite side of the boat. I dont see the pics, dont think the upload worked. I have the same set up and Im looking to add two 8 Blades. Thanks
Went to your profile and viewed the pics there. Did you just screw the pumps down, or is there a plate they are mounted on.My starboard side batteries are opposed to each other like the port side, my oil tank is in the middle on a bridge.Nice install, easy to get to.Did adding the Blades drop the performance or hole shot. Thanks
robbyw,I also went into your profile and saw the picures of your install. It does look nice and clean. I may be able to use some of that for mine but my oil tank is mounted so its right in front of my cranking battery where yours is offset. The left side of the tank is right against the sump area. I might be able to get one pump in front of the trolling batteries like you did on the left side though if i screw the bracket to the floor. thanks
