Hello all, I am planning on making the trip down from Minnesota to fish the o/i this year. I fished my first o/i last year on rayburn and had the time of my life it was a long ride coming from minnesota but was worth every dollar. I have never been to norfork and was wondering where i should look for hotels? I wanna make my resevations now b/c im sure stuff is gonna fill up quick. Do i wanna look in moutian home area for places to stay or is there other towns close to the launch that i should be looking in? I dont mind if i have a 15 min drive or so to the launch from my hotel if i have to. I dont need a cabin or a fancy place to stay actually i would prefer a hotel or somthing a little bit on the cheaper side to keep cost down for us but obveously dont wanna stay in a bad area or a crummy hotel and want someplace that has plug ins for charging batts and where boat is gonna be safe. It is currently -20 degrees where i live so im counting down the days to make the trip downThanks aaron
Town of Henderson Sunrise point I believe caters to the io crowd and has boat docks with elec and short ride to ramp via water Also lake Norfolk in is right at boat ramp at Henderson bridge http://www.norforklakechamber.com/resorts.htmLast edited by scubaman154 on December 30th, 2013, 3:06 am, edited 1 time in total.
The Comfort Inn at (870) 424-9000 is a good location not far from the lake, also the Days Inn at (870) 425-1010. I will always recommend Teal Point resort at (870) 492-5145 or tealpointresort.com as Regina and Karl are great people and their rates are competitive they have rooms or cabins but they fill up fast. I have stayed at all of these and have no complaints.
Teal Point is a good place. You can motor across to the launch site. Stayed the before. Good cabins.
Awesome thanks so much for the help guys!!!
Its been a couple years, we have stayed at both Sunrise and Teal. Sunrise is a little off the beaten path by road but central on the lake by water and had real nice docks. The owner fishes and gave great reports on what was happening. Teal was nicer in that they had paved instead of fine gravel roads on the grounds. No big deal since both places are pretty tough on launching. Youll want to leave your boat on the water if you can. I thought the docks at Sunrise were nicer and the atmosphere at Teal was nicer but I knew a bunch of people at Teal. My wife was trying to do college homework every night as well. That year wasnt the best gauge. EVERYONE in town bends over backward to ensure you feel welcome! I wouldnt hesitate to stay at either of the above again. If you are looking to save money give em a call on rates. I found weekly rates the best. Take folding lawn chairs to the final weigh in! Youll be there a while. Most of all enjoy the EVENT. I find it more of a celebration than a tournament.
Have they released they dates yet? Trying to schedule my vacation.

Hey Aaron,Personal invite from me to stay with us at Sunrise Point. As Scubaman says, we do have a great time here for the OI, and John has stayed with us as well. (Thanks guys for the plug, appreciate it).We do have a great time here during the event and would love to have you stay here with us. Our dock is a well lit, steel modern dock, with 28 foot covered slips. We are just a five minute run from Henderson, and are located central lake.Used to operate a resort up north on Lake Vermilion, where are you from?? Its a great state to bass fish as they seem to take a backseat to the walleys.Give me a call or shoot an email if you have any questions or if we can help in any way.DougSunrise Point [email protected]
