2015 cougar problem

When trimming engine up gas hand goes down and low fuel light comes on,also after on plane boat at full throttle wont get over 40 mph till I let off throttle and kick it again then runs normal “250 pro xs” also beede guage went nuts the other day,18 hrs on boat.any help would b nice.

Sounds like a trip to the dealership and probably a new touch pad on the digital gauge also.

Already been to dealer they said they think it may b loading up on fuel since it is still in break in period,dont sound right to me but guess we will see.seems like might b boat problem instead of a motor problem

If the problem is new at 18 hours we suspect the engine and not the boat. Wiring issues usually show up differently and this acts like a ground issue. The gauge rolling is the up/down touch pad and that is one of the more commn issues in 2015. Issues usually have to do with the installer at the factory and we made several staff adjustments late in 2015 to address this.Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on August 24th, 2015, 4:54 am, edited 2 times in total.

Ok Im gonna deal with it a couple more weeks and if still persist take it back to dealer thanks BCB.

For the engine, what starting battery are you using? Specs? Are the engine cables installed on the battery first and the rest of terminals stacked on top largest to smallest? Are they tight using lock nuts and not wing nuts? Sounds as if you are getting a voltage drop while trimming and causing the engine to go into guardian mode. At 18 hours you are well past break in. I would caution against running this way as it could store a bunch of faults in the PCM.When your gauge went nuts, what were the symptoms? Did this happen while trimming or at a different time? Was it just scrolling through the settings? This could be a simple (less than 5 minute) replacement of the up/enter/down touch pad.

Got the biggest interstate starting battery they make all connections are right,something is definitely up with the trim and when smart guage did that it was raining just idling out of a creek.this boat is a month old and has had this issue from day 1 just thought it was cause it wasnt broke in yet.the smart guage has only done this once but it shows no fault codes in it.love the boat just frustrated with performance so far.had a 2013 250 pro xs on my triton and never had the first problem hope to get it worked out soon

Dealer, factory support. Probably not going to cure itself. Give it back, theyll get it fixed. Dont hint and hope.

Yeah Im gonna take the tech out myself next time when they took it out they pulled a pontoon to get gas with my ride I was not happy at all.my first bass cat hopefully not my last
