Just picked up my Margay with a 150 Pro XS and took it to the lake. First off, ITS AWESOME! Secondly I dont know where the hour meter is and cant find one on the motor. Anyone know where its at?
Clint1395 there is no “hour meter” on the motor unless they just started installing them. The on-board computer on your motor keeps track of the hours and it takes a device to read your computer for that information. If you have a “Merc monitor” installed it will show the hours or if you have the electronic gauges. Those are accessories not usually on the Margay. Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
Merc monitor I would definitly install . Simple to do . Very many advantages. Besides hours. Engine temp. Which is very crucial. Install right in speedo hole.amongst many other features if you elect. .2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
Agree with the merc monitor suggestion. Installed one myself – simply plug and play. I use it mostly for engine temp and exact RPMs. The fuel usage is interesting too. Had a small piece of wood in my starboard thermostat and would have never known it had I not noticed the engine temp on my merc monitor showing much cooler than normal temp when operating. My merc monitor is the square one with the LCD display.Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra
I believe its called a Mercury Smart Craft gauge. It has a menu to go through to view a number of the functions already mentioned. Once you engage the ignition key — the first readout is automatic, and shows you the hours on the engine. That readout quickly] goes away and to my knowledge cannot be controlled to reflect a fix read. It a fairly quick flash, and then moves on to the other readouts.2012 MargayOptimax 150 Pro XS
Are there different types/models of smart craft gages? Can somebody post a picture of one installed? How much are they? My speedo is constantly not working due to pitot getting clogged so I might as well replace it with something useful.RobertBassCatSC2013 Eyra w/2013 Merc 250 Pro XS

Give sherm a call at sherms marine.he will explain ur options. I bought a basic merc monitor. The disadvantage to it is it only shows one feature at a time . For me this was ok because my big gist concern was water temp. I think I spent less than 300. The newer version I think shows maybe three features at once. Im not sure as to the cost of these. On 2006 to present they are basically plug in and play. You will need a short harness, a 4 way junction, and the monitor.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
Thanks for all the advice guys! My dealer told me that they can read the hours when they hook up the computer. I looked at what I think is the gauge everyone is talking about, its pricy. Ill go with the dealer reading the hours for now. Thanks everyone!
