Got a letter on potential problem. Take to dealer for free repair. Mine runs perfect. Any idea about what potential problem is? Glad they are willing to take care of it though.
Isnt this the compressor service bulletin? If it is, you probably have a potentially defective reed valve assembly. If it fails, it CAN cause major problems. From simply not cranking or stopping, all the way through powerhead failure if metal parts from the failure make it into the air circuit on the fuel injection system, which can instantly lean out one ore more cylinders. They dont issue these frivolously, so have it looked at. It the motor implodes and they have notified you of the potential problem, you could be on the wrong end of a warranty claim denied issue.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
I received the same letter regarding my 2015 225 as well. The letter does not state what the issue is, just that problems may occur (no start or other issues). I will be talking to my dealer regarding the seriousness of this Service Bulletin with regards to how soon I need to get it looked at. My Dealer is only 5 minutes from home ; ) Dave.
Its a certain serial number range. I heard about the recall and called my dealer this morning because I havent received a letter. Mine is a 14 model and is not on the recall list.
I had mine fixed last week. It just happened to be in the shop for annual service when my Mechanic got the notice; even before I get got the letter. The repair is the the replacement of the reed valves in the compressor. It has been a problem and in fact I have a couple of friends who had the no start condition mentioned in the letter. Suggest you get the fix because it can just hit and any time. In a tournament where one of my buds started making his run to his first spot. He never go there. The motor just quit running 70+ down the lake. Suggest you get it fixed.
Thanks for all the input. This is a great site to share knowledge and information. Will be seeing the dealer soon so I dont have any problems. Probably would happen in a tournament. So I have been warned.
Any idea how long this repair takes ?
My dealer said 1-2 days. Actual repair time about an hour.
My 225ProXs needs to have the repair done as well. I just talked with Sherm and will take it up there next week. He said the change is relatively easy. Told me maybe 1/2 hour to an hour. The reeds in question are not to be confused with the reeds for each cylinder. If the reeds in the compressor fail he said you most likely arent going to do catastrophic engine damage…the motor just wont run or wont run very well.
I was told today just because you received the letter doesnt necessarily mean you need the parts replaced. Your dealer will need to verify. Its an easy check by looking for the white dot on the plate.
White dot means it has already been repaired.

I got the letter too for a 200 proxs. I have an appointment to drop off Tuesday after the holiday. I was going to use it but I think I will wait now. Its usually a good weekend to stay off the water anyway.
I havent checked my mail in a week ha. any idea if this is just 2015 models or does it pertain to 2014 models as well?
