I asked same question about sabre ftd. Will it be OK for my partner to drive room wise? He is 6 6 320. Also same question for caracal.. which boat is more stable rinning and then at rest ?
Have Eyra @ 6 180. Stable for me and lots of room for me. IF partner is 66 @ 320 I dont know of any rig other than a barge thats not gonna keep you flailing to keep balance as he shifts weight. Caracal would be best in BCB lineup.
Sabre FTD…No way. He will rock you out the boat at 320lbs! My Sabre moves with me and Im 190lbs. The Eyra is much better than the Sabre, but he will still have you grabbing for the seat when he moves from one side to the other. Caracal would be the best. Wider than both the Eyra and Sabre by a good margin. The 98 Jag I had was more stable at rest than both my Eyra, and Sabre. Caracal will be better than the Jag.
The Eyra is a big body in the rear and will handle weight fine on tilt side to side, no BCB is tippy compared to some brands. Of course the ride does impact stability to get that extreme dry and soft ride. The comparison on an Eyra has more inquiry on the cockpit and the cockpit will be tighter in an Eyra though there is no hot foot on the passenger side, so he will be fine.
Im 62″ and 300 and my Caracal is the most stable boat Ive owned. I own a Cougar and have had Panteras in the past. JMO Pro-Tec Productswww.protecproducts.com
My partner at.6.6 will usually always drive on tournament day. Does.the caracal and eyra have enough room for him. I am getting the g2 motor so hot foot.can be switched to hand.throttle from.foot if needed. Sounds like.the sabre ftd will.not be what.I want. He had a 90.ranger 361 and Ive had 2 and they are real.stable.and I thought about same.size. as sabre.ftd.but.had.feeling it.has lot flatter.hull.
One more question. Is the caracal.room.behind the drivers seat ok for him at 6 6 320? I like the width of the caracal.but not.sure.about.the off centered layout and how it looks if.anyone wanted a 2nd console. I do like the layout and looks of the eyra as my favorite but.it.is highest cost and not.sure.about.the narrow front deck. I was in a cougar ftd in 14 and although narrow compared to couple other brands it was just fine. Just dont know.about the narrow front on eyra I havent seen one. I am not.one that cares to go.fast just want comfortable and like to.do.60.tournament loaded. 99 percent of time ill.only be cruising speed about 35 to 40.
Dont be scared of a smaller engine on the Eyra. They run great from 200-250.
Thanks.
Ill chime in on this. I have a 2013 PII. I am 63 and until recently I was 325 lbs. (now at 270). I have never had a paried partner in any of my tournaments nor any firends complain about the rear deck rocking, even in Guntersville 30 MPH wind initiated waves while fishing. I would imagine the Eyra is about the same as the PII if not better and the Caracal much better. Of course I am anxiously awaiting the Lynx release to order my next rig. Now I have fished in the back of other rigs Ns, Ss, etc. and had the boater in the front nervous about swimming, but thats another story. Cockpit is plenty sufficient for my stature also. I sat in all models before purchasing the BCB and only a couple others were capable of my large stature in the cockpit area. Hope this helps.Last edited by dbheadley on January 30th, 2017, 2:55 pm, edited 2 times in total.
