Well, after a LOT of research and decision making, I have decided on the Sabre FTD Advantage with Yamaha 175 SHO. I was bouncing back and forth between this and the Margay, But settled on the Sabre for several reasons…the layout is more traditional is the main thing, though I like the Margay layout too. The dual consoles is what pushed me to the Sabre. So, just waiting on word from the financing company and will place the order, hopefully by Monday.Heres the list:2017 Sabre FTD Advantage2017 Yamaha SHO 175HP with whatever prop runs best on it.Single Axle Trailer w/brakes and step/pole (Im getting old)Minn Kota Fortrex 80Hummingbird Helix 7 SI on console with GPS and Ethernet CapableHummingbird Helix 7 DI on Ram Mount for the bow, w/GPS and Ethernet capableDual Consoles (one for the wife, and I like the look better)Water Pressure GaugeCarpeted step box between seatsHot Foot and Pro Trim8″ Stock PlateColors:Boot (bottom) will be black with a Hambys keel protectorHull (sides) Malibu Red with Raspberry Bolt and Silver Mist PinTop Cap: Raspberry with Malibu Red inserts and Silver Mist Pins (BCB…if you have a better color for the inserts, please inform)Consoles: Malibu RedCarpet: StormSeats: Platinum with Pewter and one of the wine colors ( I cant remember which is the better match to the Raspberry) for trim stripesRaspberry FendersTrailer: ?? But I assume BCB will pick a nice color for the trailer like charcoal or deep burgundy, whichever will look best. Im leaving that up to them, with appropriate pinsHavent decided yet on a cover. The boat stays in a covered storage facility which covers top, back, and chain link between stalls, so I really only need a dust cover in storage…not sure Id use a cover that would be trailerable, though it would be nice…they are SO pricey.I tend towards darker colors with not a lot of metalflake…my old Pantera II was almost solid Malibu silver with Raspberry. I particularly dont like a lot of metalflake in my face at the console.I dont think Ive left anything out. This will definitely be my last boat as I am 65 years old and on a fixed income. I mostly fish for fun, but might occasionally fish a local Tournament on the Alabama River, Lay Lake, Lake Mitchell, and my best friend has a cabin/house on Lake Martin that I take advantage of 3 or 4 times a year. Might occasionally go as far as Guntersville, but very rarely. Most fishing around home is on the Alabama River, putting in at the Selma City ramp and either running up river or down river, depending on season. Downriver is towards Millers Ferry, with a couple of creeks before you get that far. Upriver is river fishing. Bottom line is I need a boat that is nimble and easy to manuver, with adequate TM power to fight current, depending on how much water they are releasing that day.Hopefully, everything will work out and I might have the boat by late March/early April. Meanwhile, Ive got my current boat, a Blazer ProV 190 for sale on BBC, and its in great shape and low hours…2010 model with Tandem Trailer. If you know anyone who wants a really nice boat at a good price, send them over there. We hope it comes through in time for you to make that first trip to Guntersville in it, for the Owners Invitational. BCB
Midnight-Add the stripper pole to the trailer if you havent already yet. At 65, it will be one of the best parts of the new boat. Wish I had it on my Margay and Im 34! My friends cougar has it and in my opinion is a must for the small price difference it is. You may want to check on the Helix 7. If you are wanting to link them together, I think the helix 9 is smallest that can be linked? I could be wrong, but thought I had read that a couple times… Otherwise everything is what Id want in my next boat, which Im really looking forward to seeing the new pantera classic. It may be just what Im looking for… although it will be a number of years and a yes from my wife… Thanks,Jared
An engine temp gauge is a nice add if available. It is really nice to know you have warmed the engine sufficiently before you hammer down on it.
Congrats!!! get some pics up when you receive it. You will love the Sabre!!!
Pole and step included.BCB…Youll have the order Monday. Financing is done. Guess its up to you guys to build it before the Guntersville Invitational . The financing proposal is good for a maximum of 60 days.2017 Sabre FTD AE DC2017 Yamaha 175 SHOMK Fortrex 80Helix 10 Mega SI in consoleHelix 7 GPS SI GN2 on bow
My research indicates that the Helix 7 GPS G2N series in both SI and DI are able to talk to each other. BCB…please correct me if Im wrong. 2017 Sabre FTD AE DC2017 Yamaha 175 SHOMK Fortrex 80Helix 10 Mega SI in consoleHelix 7 GPS SI GN2 on bow
Midnight-G2N may have it on the 7. Generation 1 is what I had done research on.
Just for informational purposes, if the Helix model has GPS G2N…the N stands for Networking via ethernet. I think previously they only did that starting with the 9 series, but seems they do the 7s now as well. It is like a hundred bucks difference to get the N model. I dont think the Sabre FTD console will take anything larger than the Helix 7, and I dont want a RAM on the console. Will have on up front though to adjust to the suns angle.2017 Sabre FTD AE DC2017 Yamaha 175 SHOMK Fortrex 80Helix 10 Mega SI in consoleHelix 7 GPS SI GN2 on bow
Midnight-Sounds good. I bought a helix 5 before finding out it wasnt network compatible. glad to see I can go for a 7 now and network it. something I want to get as checking piles on SI is easy and then can go up front and go right to it also.Jared
