It was on Saturday and Sunday for about 5-6 years, then it changed to Friday and Saturday as more out of area influence and long distance driving, and particularly church participation became more focused. It the early years it started on those dates as they wanted to appeal locally for numbers. Expectations in the first large event in Mountain Home were for 100-150 boats and it drew 247 the first year. The second year there were 365, then 425 and it just kept growing. As it reached 500 the even was moved to Friday and Saturday. Back in the 1970s and 1980s most all bass tournaments were held to end on Sunday. That trend ended for Church participation as a family day as spouses requested it.
