I know the event dates will be announced in several months, but has a decision been made on the location? The 4 hour distance has several options.
Gunny out!
We still haven’t released anything, Gunny! The waiting is the hardest part. Once we get everything sealed up, we will choose a date to announce the 2019 OI location.
BCB
Ouachita sure would be nice.
Lake Lanier GA ? 🙂

Maybe one day, just not 2019. BC indicated it would be within a 4 hr distance from Mountain Home. Could be in Missouri somewhere. Lake Ouachita is about 4 hrs. Maybe take that distance and create a circle from the factory then see what lakes are in that radius.
Just wonder how many locals are going to actually travel even that distance to “compete”.
Wish it was closer to us west folk people 😢
I’ve done the circle thing , and the furthest to the north is Lake Of The Ozarks – West could be Beaver Lake , as I don’t think you can get to Grand Lake in 4 hrs. unless you drive like a maniac . – Truman Lake is in the circle , as are Table Rock and Pomme De Terre . – Mississippi River is on the east side . – Greers Ferry is in the circle too . – Dardanelle is on the southern side , as is the Arkansas River / Little Rock pool . — I think Ouachita is just outside the time limit , unless you drive like a maniac . — Lest we forget , Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes ARE within the circle . — Just sayin’ — Hoss
Thanks for the reply. I’ve looked at some of the options and have crossed some off the list. Any Arkansas river location probably not a safe bet in my eyes, due to the possible high water flows. Greers Ferry doesn’t have what I feel enough places to stay, although I think (not positive) the first OI was there, could be mistaken. So I guess the bigger lakes, Ouachita, Beaver, and the Mt Home impoundments is about all that could handle 400? boats. The OI is really the only derby I fish anymore, so I will sit here patiently waiting. Tight lines to all.
Gunny
Oh, before the comments come, I only looked at Arkansas lakes. I think Rick said it would be in Arkansas. But as I get older, the hearing and memory might be lacking. Lol
We think many of the local will travel and the draw will be good. The details are inching closer and we are preparing for the location. Dates will be a long ways off and we think Bassmaster is getting close to setting events around time of the OI and thus we could lock it down. When we travel anywhere close to 300 Boats suits us fine for a success as many are nearly new. Since this one is closer to home, and it is close to a location where there are several Bass Cat models existing, we think we can hit 325 or better.
Oh, and just to throw a curve ball, Cricket Creek is in Arkansas on Table Rock. Of course Branson would offer those families a lot of fun and we have been trying to get more family involvement.
Just keeping things interesting!
Lake Dardanelle “could” still be in play. Even with water flows, unless it’s an excessive amount of rain/snow run off from the river basin west. Multiple hotels in Russellville/Dardanelle area, even out to Clarksville. Abundant campgrounds as well. I don’t think you could go anywhere else on the river otherwise, that could handle 300-400 boats without irritating a few of the lockmasters on the USCOE L&D systems.
Hopefully it’ll be enticing, for sure interesting, for most looking forward to the tourney.
I am fully aware that Rick announced the 4 hour drive thing and it puts both of these out for 2019… But when are we going to have an OI on Toledo or Rayburn?? Has there been one there recently?? Sure would be nice to see some monster bags coming in… Anyway I will see ya’ll in 2019 somewhere north of Louisiana…
I would like to see one on Kentucky lake that would be awesome, enough accommodations, things to do with the whole family, and it’s one awesome Fishery. Just throwing it in the mix.

They’ve held it twice on Rayburn in the last 10 years I believe. They are trying to rotate sites every other year to a different venue. Guntersville has been a site for the OI as well.
Just glad they’re coming back to Guntersville again in the near future.
