Just to recap I hit 80 with a 28 rakerII, but was at 6000 rpm with throttle left. I got the boat to about 50 mph than I trimmed the motor half way up the gauge and stomped on the gas. Thats when I hit 80. I had to let off the gas because the rpms went to 6000 and rising. The boat handled great, very little chin walk, I equated that to a lite chop on the water. The problem Im having is lift and rpm ratios. I need more lift and less RPM! So I think Im going to try a 30 pitch. Someone offered me a 30 pitch TXP any other suggestions or does anybody have any info on that prop. The new HO is definitely a tough beast to figure out but I believe once I do it will satisfy my need for speed.
Maybe BassCat can tell me where the trim needs to be in order to have the lift I need to get the boat up and on its last step. With my current set up 0 trim is at about 3/8 on the trim gauge.
Im hardly a prop guru Scott but if I had 80, a few hundred rpms to burn but needed more boat out of the water I would spend some money on prop work or decide to sit where you are. Or Id just void the warranty and get an L2…maybe not.I think youll lose efficiency at a 30 pitch prop and only inherit an unworkable holeshot loaded when it gets hot up there. I figure a 1.86 is just not anything any other FAST gearcase company does for a reason.I look forward to seeing what BCB says but I would call someone whos not some internet poser on props and see what your options are to make a 28 that will eat up some more rpms and raise the boat. John Mazar took an old 26 raker of mine and truly changed the thing. Tons of cup added, enlarged vents, blades with leading edges sharp enough to cut meat. It was hardly cheap but the lift from the prop he did for me is insane. I can text someone and drive my fury 77-78. This thing has so much lift you gotta drive it above 78-79 on my puma ftd. Tremendously more lift than a fury but holeshot is about 3-4 seconds with me alone(2 seconds with worked fury 25) which is slow to me but a 1.71 case on that motor is likely gonna be that way.I suppose the other way to generate more lift is longer blades and more of them but I look forward to BCB opinion on this-Good educational opportunity.C.O.D. Im far from a expert but i would think lowering the motor would lower rpm as well as allow more trim which should gain some lift. That is if you are throwing a high rooster tail at the current setting. Again i am far from a expert and may be way off base.
No q gasaxe. This is the kinda thing that makes a hydraulic plate nice. EZ cheesy to find your best spot.C.O.D. Jr. III
Have you contacted the factory now that you have some time on your rig?
I think I would rather play with a rubics cube right now than to think about this gearcase. I may be meeting up with Doug friday to play with his props on my phoenix. You knowThis whole time I thought you were a whore with a heart of gold, instead your just a whore with a regular whores heart.” – Kenny Powers
Never structure scanned @ 80 mph ,maybe im gonna learn something here. I bet there gonna tell me those green blobs on my HDS are going to be the color pink w purple pokie dots @ 80mph and thats the color of the school of bass at that speed, and those arches on the graph are the other boats that are eating my wake . J/K with ya ,thats great if you like going 80mph in a boat ,not me. Im not a speed freak by any means , but hope you enjoy your new ride ,its a good looking boat. I hope you get 82-85mph out of her , have fun
based on this pic its a manual plate and set level unless its been adjusted from when this pic was taken
Something else to consider… If this case is larger than others will blow out occur at lower speeds than what say a torquemaster would? again not a expert just something i thought about that might need to be considered!!!
