Had a coil go out on me with 50hrs on the motor, 07 250 Merc Pro XS on a 07 Puma. Apparently another staff guy with an 08 Cougar had 2 go out, and another guy with an 08 Puma had 1 go out, anybody else having the same issues?
There have been a few coils dropped, though apparently most were within a given 08 time frame. Those not within that time period were isolated. BCBLast edited by Bass Cat Boats on October 19th, 2008, 6:21 am, edited 1 time in total.
Had two to expire this spring on my 08 250 pro xs. Merc tech had EKs Marine to clean the wiring from all the Coil Packs of excessive black paint. Hence resulting in a better ground to the block. So for, no more problems. Glynn
I havent had any problems with either of mine. The 07 has over 130 hours on it because the new owner is a friend of mine. My 07 has almost 70 on it with no problems. Having said that my buddies 07 blew 2 and then Merc replaced the wiring harness all at less than 20 hours and when he sold it she had over a 100 with no other problems. I think all and all it isnt a widespread problem and they took very good care of my friend. My 250s have both been nothing short of amazing all the way around and especially with fuel mileage.
