Finally got to run the 25P Fury 4 blade this weekend. With 2 power poles, dual console, Atlas hydraulic jackplate, 15 rods, moderate tackle, and gas tanks full the hole shot was much improved over the 3 blade. Hole shot was approx 5 seconds. With same set up and live wells full the hole shot was still acceptable at approx 7 seconds. Top end either way (live wells empty or full) was 73.2 at 5900 rpms which is down from 77 with the 3 blade. At 5000 rpms I was running 61. On takeoff I ran the jack plate anywhere from 1 to 5 and it seemed almost equal across the board for hole shot but if I had to run it consistently at one setting for takeoff I would say it did best at 2-3. Water temp was 89 (I got out there at 2 in the afternoon). The best part about the prop is the mid range punch. Cruising at 40mph and punch it and it just shoots forward and you are doing 65 before you can even look down. It also improves handling which is tough to improve upon considering how well the Eyra handles to begin with. I took a 90 degree turn at 50 and it didnt even think about breaking loose. The only caution I would give is to be careful with how high you raise the trim. It will continue to lift the boat well past the point in which I felt comfortable (but to be honest I am a little more on the conservative side especially since this lake has channel markers you must stay next to or otherwise you will hit a stump). Im sure there is more I could get out of this prop and I probably will but that is my initial take after just one afternoon with it. Tony D2017 Eyra / 250 Merc Pro XS
At what point did it start to chine walk and did the change from a 3 blade to a 4 blade make any difference to the chine walk.
Man if thats better then I dont wanna know what the times on the last prop were. I have an eyra with 4 agm batts, all boxes full, 2 power poles, and loaded holeshot with worked 3 blade is less than 5 seconds?Last edited by clownshoes on July 19th, 2017, 1:55 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Glen-for me with the 4 blade it didnt start to walk till 71-72 but even then it wasnt too bad. Definitely an improvement over the 3 blade which starts to get hairy around 74-75.2017 Eyra / 250 Merc Pro XS
Doc-these are estimates but probably pretty close. With the 3 blade it was definitely longer hole shots especially with full wells and gas tanks. Are you running a hydraulic jack plate and if so where are you running it at take off? Plus my 3 blade was from the factory and has not been worked. I will be sending it to Ronnie Gilbert to have it worked. Who did yours and what did they do to it?2017 Eyra / 250 Merc Pro XS
Hydraulic position doesnt matter that much on mine? Heck my 26 that Ronnie worked is what Ive been using over past 2 weeks(dinged my 25). no water in wells full of gas me alone the holeshot was 3 seconds Sunday when it was 94 outside. Send Ronnie the prop. Telll him holeshot is the goal. If youre looking at 5-7 seconds without someone else in the boat itll be unmanageably slow when u add someone?C.O.D. Jr. III
Ive been running my jack plate around 7-8 on the console gauge? Whats the highest youve tried? I talked to another Eyra owner here on Conroe and he was running around the same. My son and I were out yesterday and I started to time the holeshot but never did. Id say it was around 5 seconds, will have to time it later this week. With half tanks it jumps right out of the hole but I have a tendency to run a lot of gas.
Clownshoes, I am curious. Since you said you ran that alone, how was the top end and where does it start to chine. I am assuming the 26 you are running is a fury 3.
If Kevin Short drives your top end with 2 guys loaded wells, most gas present, dual poles, THREE batteries, and an ultrex Id figure around 75-76 when its hot outside with a 25. Jack plate usually on around 4-5 but the more weight u get the EASIER it is to drive. For an idiot like me, solo, gas, poles, boxes mostly full, 26? 76- 77 when its hot. Jack plate on 4. Better have your big boy pants on. I guess I start making small ticks on the wheel at about 72 or so? I can easily keep it from walking but the hull has so much lift that I get spooked about missing a wake. Too many videos where folks bite it. Got a buddy with a broken pelvis right now from a ranger last week on Arkansas river. ALL I CARE ABOUT IS HOLESHOT AND A WAY TO GET TO 74 loaded.C.O.D. Jr. III
Currently running a 17 Eyra w a 25p 3 blade Fury, dual poles, atlas jp, (24v)MK foretrex and full tanks 230 lb partner (Im 230 lbs as well) its only around 3-3.5 second hole shot. Once you fill the wells it drops to about 6 seconds. Top end fully loaded in 90+ water is still 77+ before shes a chore to handle. Chine starts barely at 73 or so and is manageable to 77… I use 2-5 on jp for hole shot depending on load and wide open 5-6/7
