I have a 1991 p2 with a 150hp yammie that I have been running a 23p tempest on, this prop is pretty well banged up and I was looking at a 24p 4blade trophy to replace it .Can I use this prop with the yammie and will I need a hub kit? Also would I improve my holeshot with this setup? thnx mark

There is a mercury part (hub kit) to retro fit a merc prop to a yamaha…. As far as performance, A trophy is usually more stable and faster out of the hole… sometimes a little slower however… Im not sure if that prop is recommended for your rig… BCB or another family member will be along shortly to answer that part of your question.

Mark If youre currently using a Tempest then why not use the hub from it. If it is one of the newer Tempest props, then the hub should slip out of it and can be used with the Trophy. Otherwise, as said above youll have to get a hub that will your Yamaha.

From my own experience with a PII/150 motor (96 with a 150 Mariner) I found that the Tempest was better overall. The Trophy worked well but the Tempest had much better holeshot and about the same top end. Both props were new/unworked.

but wouldnt the 4 blade have a better holeshot than the 3 blade/ mark

Thats what I was always told, but the Tempest was way better for me.
