My buddy just put a 52″ Fortrex 112lb TM on his 2005 Cougar but seems as though the foot cable is not long enough to stow the motor unless he lowers it way down. I guess this is because of the recessed area being so far forward on the boat. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution?Thanks

Stowing it forwards on the MinnKota or lengthening the cable are your options.

I had a 52″ 101 and no such issues on an 09 puma? Wonder if you couldnt mount the troller a little more towards the nose then where youre thinking? Could stow in any shaft position. I fished/stowed it ALLLL the way raised many times?C.O.D. Jr. III

I have a 2010 Cougar FTD that originally had a Motorguide Tour 109 36V 45″ shaft that I replaced with a 45″ Maxxum 80 24V. Decided to go back to 36V but with a MK Fortrex 52″. The problem is that even with the TM at its lowest position on the bracket, when the TM is stowed the port rod box lid hits the TM and will not open all the way. Not a problem when the TM is deployed but there are times I need in the rod box with the TM stowed. My work-around is to unlock and raise the TM to access the rod box, but I was wondering if there is a better way? The TM aligns on the bow mount plate perfectly (using original BCB holes) and I really dont want to drill new holes in the cap, but could consider new holes on the TM bracket if that is the best option.Help?

Mine is a 52″ on a 03 so it should be the same. I only have an issue when raised for extremely shallow water – but yes it cannot be stored when raised that high. Normal height, I have minimal tension on the cable. For the big water I fish, the issue is worth dealing with to keep the TM in the water in rough water. I am looking forward to solving this issue with an ultrex real soon.
