Topic: 91 merc 200 question

I have a 91 PII with a 91 Merc 200. I recently had it rebuilt with a new lower unit. It struggles to start and stay running at low rpms but runs like a raped ape. But if I give it a bunch of throttle it fires right up. I think maybe the idle is set too low. My question is how do I turn up the idle a little bit? Also is my thinking correct?Thanks,Billy

My old 88 2.4 150 I sways had to own the fast idle all the way until it fired . Once fired up I always could back the fast idle off and it would idle. Their is a factory spec. For the rpm idle. A Google search can probably help you on this. Problem is if you get the idle to high and you start clanging gears when you engage. I would simply take it to the man who built it. And let him put a timing light on it to. Though sounds like the advance timing is correct. If its a carburator motor the carbs could be trash up to.
