Hey guys another question for ya, thanks for all the help so far. My 94 Eyra has a merc 150 xri 2.5l with a Michigan wheel Apollo ss 21x13p prop. I am hitting about 64mph at 5900-6000rpm and if I trim it any higher it gets squirrely like its over trimmed. I was just told she would do 70mph+ when I bought her. Its actually the charcoal and teal one from PA for $8900 obo that sold last year on the owners board. He had a 23p laser and the guy that bought it from him changed it to the Apollo before he sold it to me. What should the proper pitch be for my rig? What is the top speed for the hull? Thanks guys
Im not sure what the max rpms are supposed be on that motor of yours but if you are not over reving it with the 21 and your hole shot is ok Id say you are propped about right. I also think 64 mph is pretty darn good with the 150. Im getting over 65 mph on a good day with my 150hp 95 Eyra. Ive tried at least 5 different props over the years on mine and for my particular set up the 21 pitch Powertech PTR has by far been the best option with best speed and lift. Im not sure our older Eyras will hit the 70s with the age they have on them when powered with a 150. Have you adjusted your motor height at all?Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra
Awesome thanks for the info. I have lowered it back to about 3.25″ below the pad was around 3″ and would chine easy and wasnt very stable. I had it about the same speed and rpm, maybe a few mph faster but not stable. Its a lot more stable I almost feel I could lower it another 1/4″ but might loose my speed. I am running on lake Ontario and Bay of quinte so its usually pretty rough water. The older eyra handles it very well, still smile when I am blasting across 2-3 waves at 54mph and just hopping along smoothly.
If I remeber right the 150 2.5Xri was a Pro XS kind of for its day, Id say set her like BCB recommends until you get a Lil steering torque, 21 seems too small, id say 23 Tempest…….
What color is this rig?
This is her right here, http://basscatowners.yuku…D-RECEIVED-DOWN-PAYMENT. I bought it from the guy who bought it from here.
Ok! We were curious as to what history his rig has. The 1994 is a year one Eyra with the offset hull and runs really well in large waves. It has a nose high hole shot and requires a unique design in propeller to torque the hull over. You might run a 23 or 24 series in the three bladed designs such as the Fury or Raker. The Michigan 21 is not suggested. BCB
Well I notice it handles the waves very well, especially when its trimmed down you cut right through them. My rigs sees some pretty rough water, actually two days ago my stupid power drive popped down at 55mph after hitting a few waves. Needless to say its in the shop being welded and put back together. The owner that sold my rig on here had a 24p laser. The old owner that switched it to the Michigan 21 said he couldnt get the bow up with 3 or 4 people in it I think thats the reason he switched it out. I am planning on re doing all the decals, carpet, deck latches and everything else I can update, was actually wondering if I am able to get new Eyra decals for the top cap too? What is the actual color called of my rig from bass cat? Thanks guys!
Also I have three huge new deka marine master batteries in the back that I think are definitely adding some more weight to the rear end. What do you mean about the hull being offset too? Not sure what that means am hungry for info lol.
