99 Classic hole shot

I have a 99 Classic 200 Opti with a 25p 4 blade Power Tech prop hanging off of a Power Lift jackplate. I bought the boat last fall and it is set up exactly as I got it. This is my first bass boat so I dont have much to compare it to. When Im alone in it, the boat nearly flies out of the water on the go, but with me and my brother (190 and 230#s), full fuel tanks, live well and gear, it takes forever to get up on pad. Dont know if this matters but she starts to chine walk at about 65mph and top end is about 68mph at 5200 – 5300 rpm. My question is do I have a prop issue, a jack plate positioning issue or are there too many variables to tell at this point? Thanks, Jim

Check out some of the posts, BCB does not suggest a Power Tech on this rig. Search for a Classic and you will find plenty of similar information on Pantera Classic and or a Pantera II model. We would suggest either a 24 Trophy, 24 or 25 Tempest, and more lately a 24 Fury. This topic has been on here plenty trying to help folks on either top end, driving or hole shot on set up. Give it a read and then let us know your next direction. BCB

BCB, Was able to test a 24 trophy and a 25 fury on my Classic loaded heavy at Fork the other day. The 24 trophy had a better hole shot than my old 25P Power Tech but ran the RPMs high (5800) and only 61 MPH GPS. The 25 Fury had a bit better hole shot than the Trophy and ran the RPMs at 5500 and 66 MPH. Also Im not sure if it my imagination but it seems to drive better with less steering torque as well. Air temp was 85 degrees water about 73 degrees. Dont know if it is the perfect solution but the 25 Fury seems like an acceptable prop for this boat. Havent located a Tempest to run. Any thoughts? Thanks to Ivan for calling me back and answering the same stupid questions for what Im sure is the thousandth time. Cheers, Jim

Note that changing props changes everything else. You will probably want to tweak engine height and even experiment with trim as different props have different characteristics about how well they hold, or slip, etc.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

Yea, Ill probably do that once I run it a few times and get a good feel and baseline for where I am now. Im currently 3 1/2 inches below pad on a 5 inch Pro Lift jack plate. My prop guy sez the Fury likes to be a bit deeper than the Power Tech and Trophy. Anyone run a similar setup?
