99 Sabre SS handrails

I picked up a 99 sabre in January, and Ive been restoring it. I am ready to re-install the SS handrails, and I was wondering how I can get these to stay stable in place. The way I recieved it, there was just a screw going through the stern ends to keep the rail from being shoved into the gunnel, but the rails would spin. How were these installed from the factory back in the day? Since theyre handrails, Ive got to assume they were pretty stable. This style handrail does NOT have the T connection in the middle.Looking for ideas.Thanks,Kent

That was factory installed then and you can add a center stanchion.

Talked to parts about it (wasnt Pete, cant remember who) they said the center stanchion is too tall for my model boat and would not work. Any other ideas?

I have a 2000 BassCat SS I do not have a center stanchion as well. I dont believe it is supposed to have one. It would make sense though. I have to threaten my teenagers to be careful or else when they get in and out of the boat while its in the garage. “It is for show not function. “It is not a hand rail.” It was not designed to support your weight.” If you bend it call 911 immediately.” You are going to need them to pull me off of you.” Mine spins around freely as well. You can pull right out I do not have anything keeping it in place. Dont get me wrong I LOVE MY BOAT. You just have to be careful. Ive noticed on newer models it is clear. Like its made out of acrylic or something. Some people have attached L.E.D. lights to the ends to make them glow. It looks really good.

BDigital….the Puma, Puma FTD, Cougar FTD, Eyra and Jaguar all have the lighted acrylic handles. Some people choose not to turn on the lights in the handles but I love seeing them. Its something that sets BassCat apart from others. Oh thats right rub it in basser. Since I have my boat and plan on keeping it for a while I dont keep up with the latest and greatest a whole lot.

I dont have them either. I wanted them but my older Cougar came along at the right time and at the right price. I have the stainless steel. And I will be keeping mine for a looooong time as well. My previous boat was a 1992 Sabre. I bought it lightly used in 1998 and kept it until 2010. I drooled over all the 20 footers for years before all the stars lines up for me to get this one.
