998 on Sabre

Guys, I am planning on mounting a 998 on the rail of my sabre using RAM-D-235-U and RAM-D-201U-C. My only concern is the weight of the graph on the rail. Has anyone mounted a 998 on your rail or see any issues with this? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I mounted my 998 on the rail of my p4 and have had no issues.Go ahead and do it you will love it there

I have had a Lowrance 520 on my handrail for over a year with no issues. At first I did not have the rail mount tight enough and it was rotating on the rail. With the rubber pad and tightening, I had no more issues. I recently bought a 998 also and plan on putting it on the handrail and moving the Lowrance up front. I have seen pics of others with 900 series Hummingbirds on the handrails. You can add a rubber block under the RAM arm for added support. This is nice when youre runnin through the rough stuff.

Kent, Which ram base did you use to mount to your hbird gimble bracket? I am thinking about using RAM-D-111BU. Yours looks different.Last edited by Steel Sabre on January 4th, 2013, 12:56 am, edited 2 times in total.

Contact Parts and ask them about the Talon mount for the large RAM socket.

This isnt specific to any model of BCB, but has anyone considered, or completed, mounting an HDS8 or 10 on the left side of the console using a vertical swing arm Ram mount (109 V)? Im thinking it would make it useable/raedable from the drivers seat or the front deck. Just another option for those of us who are on a limited budget. Any thought on whether that would be a viable option?

I had the Ram 220 rail mount ball which only accomodates the 1″ ball. I didnt have problems with it, but I think youre idea of a 2″ ball is a better option. As far as the rail itself goes, mine held up very well and the rail was never affected. It never got loose or had any slop after a couple of years of operation with the rail mount on it. Im curious about the Talon mount that BCB mentioned. How does the flush mount attach to the fiberglass?
