http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/2239 http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/2317 Thats for the transom saver. As far as hydraulic jackplate, BCB does not recommend them unless you fish a lot of changing waters or a tournament fisherman, and then it is up to your discretion. You can achieve “total performance” all around with manual jackplate, just set it and forget it. If you are into changing from 3 blade to 4 blade props frequently, or extremely shallow, or stump filled water, you might could benefit. But more often than not, the cost and potential for breakdown of components are major reasons for sticking with manual. 1. The swing away tongue….. its pretty rigid… when you pull the pins it swings fine…. not freely but not difficult either….. the problem is re-attaching it…. I had to put it on the hitch and apply a ton of pressure against it and tap the bolt until it would finally line up and fall in… once in…. no problem…. Does this get better with time or can I do something that will make it easier to reattach?2. My old yamaha I ran 92 ocatane gas 100% of the time… Need to fill the Opti before the next trip this weekend and Im just wondering what you guys are running octane wise? Ethanol or non-ethanol?3. I cant find a place to lube the bearings on the trailer tires.(honestly havent looked very close)…. It does have the wheel upgrade… Are they sealed? (I realize this might be a pretty stupid question)….. all this stuff is new and different since my 1997 Cat and Im just trying to get caught up to speed….Thanks guys…
For the Quest registration and warranty transfer you can either call Marcy at the factory or go over the rules and then click on the Membership form on the bottom of this page: http://bassboatowners.com/QuestRules.html As for the seat bushing it is not an expensive item and you can get one at a dealer or order one online. Your boat has a 2 year stern to bow warranty and lifetime structural warranty. My guess is you are out of that 2 year warranty unless it was originally purchased as a noncurrent unit. To remove you can take a jig saw and cut it in half on both sides and then remove with pliers and screwdriver. To replace you need to put a small amount of grease/oil on the bushing and then put a piece of wood over it and drive/press it into the seat post. Make sure it is square when you do this. The cracks will have to be evaluated by your dealer or service. You can email pictures at [email protected] Odds are where you are saying those are located they are impact marks and would be an insurance deal and not a warranty deal. The rear corners can get those by fishing stumps/docks/etc in the wind and having a partner who doesnt pay attention. The rear of the boat can really gain some momentum and force when blowing around, definitely enough to crack the gel on an impact. Good luck and congrats on your new boat. Judd Lasiter
Thanks a lot for all the info….I really appreciate it..Ill take the photos and mail them in…….Jeff
Knot sure a bout the swing away tongue. The hubs are vault hubs and they are sealed with a five year warranty. I run 92 octane in my pro sx all the time. I wish i could find some place that has non ethanol gas. But theres no place close.
The problem with most places that have non-eth gas, is they also dont have the detergents in them that help keep your motor clean. If youre running non-eth. gas make sure you are putting in something like StarTron enzyme treatment or seafoam or something to help keep things clean in there. I personally run 87o but will only buy from chevron or shell, since they have the detergents in them to help reduce carbon build up. And, I also add stabil, and startron to every tank.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
I find that one pin slides in/out easily with tension on the winch and the other is tighter until I ease the winch tension. Now I do them in order without thinking although it has gotten easier over time. Make that you arent pinching the wires inside the tube when you swing it straight.
Been told to ALWAYS run Merc QUICK CLEAN any time I add fuel to my pro xs. Keeps plugs clean and no misses. Read your manual, I believe it states to run 87 Oct, waist of money to run anything higher. This is what Ive always done with no problems.
Use the winch to help install the pin in the swing away. Run 87 octane and use Quikleen as recommended. Dont worry about grease in the wheel bearings until youve had the boat a couple or three years. Then repack bearings by hand.
Yamaha sent all their technical staff to a meeting at a major petroleum company several years ago in coordination with introduction of the SHO and other 4 stroke engines. Those technicians that attended those sessions will not buy fuel for their personal rigs unless it is at least 89 octane. They learned enough about what goes in fuel, marketable differences and the process to feel that 89 octane gets you away from bottom quality fuels.
