Since when is it legal to fish by one of these signs?Did BASS make a ruling against local authority?Seemed kinda odd?C.O.D. Jr. III
Since the same time you can RUN outta a cracked open lock on the AR. river,,,,,, just sayin! They should have ALL been DQd in that scenario upon re-entering the LR pool, imho., and lockmaster fired.
Why would you want lock master fired? Once those gates are opening it is strictly the boaters at dangerous fault for going thru!!
look over on BBC its a big thread about it, I fish there all the time and watched Randy fish and he was a lot further from the dam than it looks, but supposably he asked multiple times in registration if he could fish up against it and the answer was yes

Boats ARE NOT to transit lock opening until the horn sounds. Should the gates fail while they are opening the lockmaster will know well before anyone in that lock will know. Additionally failures in armature can present with incomplete opening and all sorts of things that make transit of the doors early a REALLY BAD idea. I know for a fact that the lock personnel on that lock got a really big shakedown over that entire event. As for the pic above……once again a winner to some degree because of a percentage of the crowd assuming they couldnt fish it while others were wise enough to ask. So now I suppose if the sign isnt from your local fish and game or enforced by local fish and game then it doesnt count? That seems a very odd precedent. What about the marina/dock owner that has “no fishing signs” that the local enforcement guy enforces it but the local laws dont support? I have had this little fight in Arkansas before. There are about 200 duck clubs on the Arkansas River who think they have private water but actually do not based on the legal standing here in Arkansas. To me I am impressed that “signage regardless of source” doesnt reign supreme here. I can see letting the angler desires lead our intentions in BASS but there is the issue of professionalism within the sport as well.Last edited by clownshoes on June 18th, 2013, 10:44 pm, edited 3 times in total.C.O.D. I understand that ward, but how would the lock operator stop a bunch of fool hearty bass fisherman from Jett g out before the horn?

They have no grounds to stand on. When the water rises it is navigatable.
I know I know Andy! Those rich boys crack me up with all of their “no one can go onto our 1000 acres of federal land” blah blah blah blah. Navigable high water mark sho nuff says they dont. Heck most of those fart knockers wouldnt know what to do if their guides and duck pluckers didnt show up for work! As for the lock master…thats easy! You go on and run out, usace issues citations for all via federal system, and most tournament rules dq folks who violate state fed laws while fishing. As for stopping them? Thats easy. Guy leans out of the control house, declares an emergency, shuts gates. In our system the guy is right next to the doors being opened.C.O.D. Jr. III
Now wouldnt that cause a danger situation, the boats still going out while the door changes direction and starts closing? I have been through the locks down there and up here on the Ohio. Those things seem to move airily quick for the size. What about driving pg over the dam gates when the water is up?
Having locked in that very lock umpteen times and having had my butt chewed by a lock master before Im pretty sure hed do whatever he wanted. Also, in Dougs example that lock master told those boys to do that…and thats why dbaskets opinion is what it is as was usaces when they saw the tapeC.O.D. Jr. III
