After getting a killer deal on a HDS 8 unit with structure scan, Sonic Hub stereo system and the Sirus weather system I had the trouble of trying to get it all mounted to the boat while drilling as few new holes as possible into the gelcoat. WIth the help of a few friends we came up with a pretty slick mounting system I think. Please excuse the dirty boat as these were taken just after it all got installed. Here is how I just got done mounting my HDS 8 at the console on my PII. It is a custom made aluminum bracket and it will be powder coated soon. I just wanted to check the placement of the unit before I had it painted. I removed the pop up cleat from the side of the boat and used those two screw holes to mount the plate. I also have a piece of aluminum behind the fiberglass to give it extra support. No extra holes were drilled for this mounting method which is a big plus for me and also you can still see all the gauges. I hate drilling holes in fiberglass and the only negative to this mount is the horn is a little tough to get to but the frequency of use is not often at all. Then I used the passenger console access hole and cut it out to fit the speaker for the stereo system. The Sonic hub main box is under the drivers console with the other speaker mounted beside it. The ipod docking station is in the drivers side rod locker waiting to be mounted. The Structure scan box is under the passenger console and the only way you can see it is if you look for it. All the Ethernet wires and speaker wires were run under the seat pan and are hidden from view.
