Guys, I am have some problems with my new Pantera II. I see that the fiberglass cover that seats are on is bolted to the shell of the boat. Mine driver side is sqeaking very badly and when i pull on the seat I can see that the cover is moving. Do I need to take the seats off to tighten the screws that hold this on? I couldnt see many except for the ones holding the rubber trim down and it does not look like they are the problem. Also, the wire covers that go to the motor are severly scratching the splash well of the boat. I am sure that this is an issue that you guys have seen before. What are your ideas for fixing it. And finally what type of bulbs are in the speedo? Mine is already out and need to replace it. These few things are the only issues that I have seen on this very well built boat. The boat has about 15 hours on it so its practically new. I am not one to haul it up to the dealer for every little thing. I realize this is a boat and a boat is going to have issues from time to time. If I can fix it I would prefer that route. My dealer (Waymack) has been great so no issues there. I do want to say thank you for all that you guys are! Your business model is something to envy. In my professional career I have never seen a company so dedicated to their customers. I hope this years OI is a great success. Wish I could make it this year but one of my employees also owns a BassCat and wanted off. They were the reason for me purchasing a Cat. Maybe next year!! Thanks Shannon
The screws may be loosening some, or the seat pan could settling as areas wear some. Tightening the screws by hand would be fine. Though dont strip them. Take a look at that and let us know what you find. The rubbing in the splashwell is probably something that you will not prefer that answer to, though it is our way. The splashwell we do not cover intentionally. Two of our competitors once put rubber matting in the well and claimed it was to prevent scratching. It does, though it also covers an area that was prone to lots of stress fractures on those other brands. We have chosen to not cover that area as we dont want folks to think we are hiding anything. We have considered placing matting in only the front area of the well and the cabling jackets would ride on that. It could be done by anyone if preferred. We prefer to just buff that area occasionally and repolish it. Just being brutally honest as usual.
The only visible screws I see are the ones on the bottom next to the carpet and one stainless in the center above the step. Are there any others that are hid that I cant see? As for the scraching in the splashwell that makes sense. It just looked like it was severly scratching it. What I mean to say is more than can be buffed out. I am sure it is not but you know its a new boat and I worry to much!!! Thanks for the quick reply.
There are a few behind each seat back hidden, though they should not need tightening.
If they are worse than buffing (which would be shocking cuz that can cure an awful lot) then look for a zip tie that needs turned…even those can be buffed but that is normally the part that is the worse. Good luck. Judd Lasiter
I put a 6″X6″ self adhesive rubber tread piece right were the plastic cover was rubbing. I got it at Bass Pro Shops they call it jellybean tread. I think most of my scratches were caused by sand or grit that gets in the splash well then the cover rubbing like sandpaper. I also put a piece were my partner puts his feet next to the rod holes on the rear of the passenger side rod box. Works for me.Last edited by txmrbass on March 22nd, 2008, 8:55 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Thanks for all the answers. I am thinking of getting someone to sew a zippered felt cover for the lines. I noticed that all of them rub at some time or the other. With the felted material with a zipper I can take them off and wash them.
