Loaded up the kitty this morning in the rain and snuck down to a small lake about an hour from home. I may have gotten wet, but it turned out to be one of the best days Ive had on the water. The big ladies were hungry and I brought just what they wanted. I can honestly say there is very little more exciting than a fish north of 6lbs blowing up on a buzzbait…….except when it happens half a dozen times in one outing!!

I put these two lovely ladies in the livewell until I could talk someone at the ramp into taking a few photos for me (trying to hold two lively behemoths and snap selfies turned out to be impossible). I then promptly put the boat back in the water and idled the 100 yards to put them back in the cove they came out of, just like each of the other large pre-spawn females I caught throughout the day.Will be sure to add the footnote “*no fish seen in these photos were harmed in any way” in future big fish photos…LOL

It can really frustrate when you see a guy with 3 or more of these big ladies on a stringer hanging from the side of their boat. I however, enjoy catching them again. I usually hit this small lake once or twice a year (its out in the middle of nowhere and only 600ish acres) and every trip Ive made has resulted in at least one 5lber. Its kindof a well kept secret in this neck of the woods and I feel like I should do my part to keep it going as an incredible fishery.I was just giving you a hard time!
