Friday I was practicing for a tournament and my Lowrance unit on console kept losing GPS signal. The week before, I found some ledges and marked the “sweet spots” after hours of searching. I called Lowrance and literally was on hold for 25 minutes. Thank goodness my cell has a speaker phone function. When I finally got to speak to a person, they told me the “soft re-set” scenario and suggested I unplug and replug the antenna from the back of the unit. No luck – I knew the procedure anyway. Now, the good news. I called Scott (thanks Scott you have pulled my bacon out of the fire a few times while on the water) and he suggested I talk to Pete since he installs sonar and GPS units on the boats. Pete comes on immediately (by the way, wait time about 20 seconds to speak to Pete). Pete knows set up with a very quick explanation on my part and instructs me on how to switch antennas from front to back. I called Pete at 4 PM and he leaves at 4:30. I did as he instructed (no more than 10 minutes) and both units began working. Pete saved the day and weekend. I called him back to thank him for his help and he said “catch a few for me.” I did. I want to give a special thanks to Pete for his attitude and knowledge. He made what could have been a very stressful weekend into a great time.
