Topic: A10 conversion problem

I got my conversion kit in and plugged it all up. Lights come on everything works but the gauges. None of the gauges show a reading. I also have 2 wires a purple one an brown with white stripe coiled up behind it. Are these used for something. The unit didnt have a manual or instructions or nothing. I ran my boat the other day and had no idea of my RPMs or anything except water pressure which was in the boat before I put the new kit in. I have sent a email to the parts dept but havent heard anything back.

The purple is the ignition wire from your key switch and it must be attached, unless this is an open wire for you to tap on a later install. The brown and white is the Trim gauge sender. If you have a Tan wire, that is the heat gauge. BCB

I bet that is why none of the gauges work. So I hook up the purple wire to the ignition and the brown to the trim? Is there a diargram that can help me with this?

Those would be Mercury items and the wires are in the Mercury harnesses. It should be simple.

You should be able to just match the colors coming out of the key switch, If you cant find/dont have a brown/white wire coming out of the key tie it in to the purple (or what ever wire has juice to it) Steve

WV I took my A10 and mounted it with conduit strapping like you would a radio in car. I drilled 2 holes in the bottom of the 2 brackets holding the touch panel on and one on top in the middle. This thing looks slick. I will try to post some pics up soon. It has been hard to find time since this weekend. So the wires purple and brown should match up with wires coming out of the key switch right? And the brown wire just needs power to operate . Ok I think I can do that. Thanks

Yeah buddy you got it, sounds like your on the down hill side now!!! Both the purple and brown/white wire need to be on hot wires… You should be able to match up the purple wire but (my key) didnt have a brown/white wire, you can splice it in with the purple wire or find another hot wire and splice into it! Sounds like you are well on your way! Looking forward to seeing some pics!!!
