? About lynx

I’ve had a puma ftd and 3 cougar ftd and have loved them all . I’m really got a lot of debating going on in my head at this time . Heck of a wait right now so I guess it’s a good time to debate. I’m not big on change but I’ve been debating on going 4 stroke cause I feel everything is heading that way. Never had a Yamaha ( huge wait to go that way), so I started thinking about the verado since nothing much being said about a new 250 4stroke coming. The verado is heavy and I’m not sure bout that much weight on a puma/ cougar . Seems it would kill draft and not sure bout performance. So I started wondering what the performance on the lynx/ verado would be and what kind of draft this boat takes. I love shallow water . Like my top end also. Thanks in advance for any replies i can get.

From what I have seen the Verado may not be a good fit performance wise, Either wait for the Merc 4 stroke or find a Yamaha. The SHO is proven. You have been warned. Just my 2Cents

Actually the 250 Pro XS is a great engine and well proven. By the time a new Lynx order would be built the entire landscape will change with regard to four stroke. The Yamaha engines should be available and other option will develop as Mercury hits stride on the V6 block and move on to the next version.

BCB had a Lynx Verado 250 Pro combination at the 2017 Excellence in action Demo Days. I was skeptical of the performance until I drove the boat myself. The Lynx is a different creature than the Puma and Cougar and should not use these boats as your benchmark. Yes the Verado is heavier than the XS, but you will never notice this on a boat the size of the Lynx. There is a reason that some of the Mercury pros have made the switch the the V-Rod, John Crews is a perfect example. Although I have not ran the boat with a tournament load, the numbers with the Verado were legit. Great hole shot and top ends of 78+. Sherms Marine has that exact boat in inventory now if you are close enough to run it, Sherm is a good dude and hell take you for a spin. Also I think important to mention there are so many other great features of the Verado the biggest that jumps out in my mind is the solid state steering.

Ive kinda been the black sheep here and while I certainly debated the Verado and the Yamaha, ultimately I went with the G2 and have been extremely pleased with it. Yes its a 2-stroke. But miles ahead in advancement over the XS. Im running the 300. I dont fish a lot of formal tournaments and even when I do its just for fun so no worries of the 250 limit for me. If that is an issue in your case, I have no doubt the 250HO version would be more than capable of handling the Lynx. Hole shot is immediate and Im seeing 77-78 with 2 full grown men and full tournament load. Cruise at 60-65 is effortless and solid as a rock. And to top it off, 10 year warranty. Also, like the Verado, all solid state fly-by-wire throttle (the switching from foot to hand throttle is nice!) and power steering. Its something you should consider at least!
