Adding a stereo

I am thinking of adding a stereo to my PII (single console). Would like to do it myself if possible. Any pointers/suggestions?

Kelly, On my 08 Sabre, BCB installed the stereo under dash in a real nice carpet enclosure. Not sure if it is built into the fibreglass or not. I sent you an IM, I could send a pic to you.

Kelly The new Sony stereos for marine uses are very good. VERY good! Ask the staff at Airport about their potential and you could externally mount some models. They have an iPod cable and external MP3 ports for Zunes also. Though you will have to plug in the mp3 jack cord to the back of the unit. They are kickin!

BCB, I also heard those Sonys are nice. I have the big Clarion in mine which does pretty well also. Is the Sony better?

well I have some BPS gift cards from Christmas and was looking at what they had in thier catalog. Would you stay away from those? Where would I mount speakers? Do I have to have holes cut in the fiberglass to mount speakers? Kelly, I bought the Sony CDX-M30 from BPS for my boat, it has a jack on the front of the unit for mp3 players. It also comes with a wireless remote, so you dont have to lean over if you mount it under the dash. You can also purchase a wired remote to mount in the front of the boat if you wanted to.

This 09 Puma is the first boat I have ever had a radio in. It is actually a little nicer than I expected. The new Sony is an AWESOME radio that flat rocks. I dont know about the BPS brands but normally they dont carry the high end stuff. You will have to cut the glass to put the speakers in, you might be able to use the dual console access hole if you have a dual because they appear to be real close in size. I will see if I can get you some pictures of mine…it is one of the best installs I have ever seen. The radio is in the dash so you can easily get to it and see the face, the key and security/pumpout pad was moved over by the shifter. Good luck, you can do it but you will have to take your time and if you are like me you will be puckered Judd Lasiter
