Im not sure how Basscat does it, but can tell you how I mount them. Using the slide bracket, I mount the bottom straight to the boat. If you want to use a thin layer of rubber mat between the mount and the boat, thats ok, I just dont set the mount up on the rubber bushings. The trolling motor though, I use the rubber bushings between the trolling motor and the mount. Ive found it you dont, sometimes the top bracket wants to hang on the stop bolt at the front of the mount.. As to the recess, since the Terrova pedal is almost flat, I suggest having Basscat make you an insert for the recess, much like would be used on a hand operated. If you wanted to get “fancy”, it could have a door on the top use as a day box.John
