Adding temp gauge to 2011 Sabre FTD.

In my opinion you should monitor temperature not only on the top end (too hot) but on the bottom end (not hot enough) as well. When you put your boat into the water and start it up cold, you want to know that the engine has warmed up enough before you run down the lake. If you have trash in one or both of your thermostats then your engine will not warm up enough for you to safely run WOT. If you overheat your engine will sound an alarm so there is some protection there but if you run with a cold engine it will eventually lead to problems. I know this first hand because I have had trash in my thermostats more than once but never did I run hard until I cleaned them and verified proper operation later. BCB has a Merc Monitor on the Garage Sale page and you might want to go that route for temperature and other engine conditions as well. Jim Everyone should believe in something. Merc Monitor is definitely the way to go but do not get the Basic unit. Level One has a tri-screen function that allows you to see three motor conditions at one time. With the Basic unit you have to page through them; not an easy task at speed.You can watch your motor warm up, see the thermostats open, and know its time to Rock-n-Roll. At the end of the run you can watch the motor cool down and avoid heat soaking it.
