The compartment beside my step up cooler, has at times had a few inches of water in it. I think that the water is coming from slosh from the cooler of melted ice. Was wondering if others are having this issue or that it is supposed to be like this?
Mine never gets water even when I drinch the carpet. It shouldnt get water and not sure how it would come from the cooler.
Hey daddy-o just saw your IM-Heres my take on this which is probably wrong-#1) could be getting water in through the top so Id tighten the seal on the box via the latch#2) could (theoretically) get water up through the cup holders and then into this box- but thats a lot of water in the sump that far to the front.#3) Havent studied this junction in depth on the build pics but I assume since both boxes are not molded glass that they are glassed into the top cap after the guysgals cut holes for the them. Therefore if there is any separation of this seal on the day box side then water from cooler could get into the day box but that seems less likely to me since I assume these are two separate boxes in fabrication and they are just glassed in next to each other. Now if these two boxes are one piece then I could see a cross leak.Solution- take boat, plug drain in cooler and fill that bad boy with a ton of water and see what happens!C.O.D. Are you leaving in your cooler drain plug? We leave our plug out and havent had any problems.
Here is what I have done to try and stop the water. I took RTV silicone and made a seal against the top section of the boat against the divider going to the cooler. That did not fix it. Set down and adjusted the latch on the lid, whick led to adjusting many more latches. But still not stopping the leak. I do leave the plug in the cooler, cold water seems to stop the ice from melting as fast. I was thinking as Ward said about water coming up from the cup holders, but the sump doesnt have enough water in it. Here is one thing that I have also in the equation that I am not sure matters. My seat cooler has the cool-well cooling system in it. And this occurance seems to happen when I have ice/water in it also. I do not see or understand if this cool-well could cause a leaking path into the sump. But just another variable I wanted to share. Never can have too much information when troubleshooting an issue.
WTH is a cool well? Ok got that figured out. So I assume you ran tubes from livewell to heat exchanger in center seat storage area that is full of ice and keeps the heat exchanger for the kool-well cool?So I guess my question is how did you get the flex tubing from the center seat cooler to the livewells?I assume? the koolwell pulls water from the livewells, circulates it through the heat exchanger which is surrounded in ice in the cooler and back to the livewell?Last edited by clownshoes on January 30th, 2013, 1:05 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Freeze 3 or 4 bottles of water, put your ice in plastic bags or grocery sacks and tie up, or buy the cooler packs. I havent poured ice directly in my cooler in a long time just for the reason stated. I like the frozen bottles best. My Miller Lite stays plenty cold.
Ward-J Crews had the kool-well done. It has holes drilled in top cap thru back of that cooler into a pump in the battery compartment that is spliced into the recir piping. The piping is silicone on both front and rear of the the hole drilled. Razrcat-Are you saying that you have experienced the same issue?
I fill mine with ice regularly. No problems. Kool well isnt gonna likely leak enough to fill sump. Would be obvious. Hmmm…still ciphering.C.O.D. Jr. III
Ok thanks to RP I can look at a lot of build pix so heres my final answer- When the insulation was put around the drybox and cooler the outlet of the cooler got blocked in its access to the sump. Water leaving cooler builds up and comes into the bottom of the cupolders. Thats my final answer Alex.C.O.D. Jr. III
