March 12th, 2017, 4:58 pm #1 2017-03-12T16:58~My trailor needs some work done on it. Pops a lot. I see that the bushings are worn down to almost nothing. How hard is it to replace them. Are there any thing else I need to check? Prob going to redo the breaks also. They havent worked since I got it last year. The trailor is about 10 years old. Any advice appreciated. Thx
If the bushings are worn, check the balance beams and spring hangers for damage. If the spring hangers are damaged, you will have to cut them off and weld on new ones. Also check your brake lines for rust and wear, especially where they rub against the trailer frame. The rubber brake lines need to be checked for cracking and deterioration.

For the brakes, I would do the simple approach. Call Allan, order two calipers and the actuator. Will set you back about $300. After flushing the old fluid, you will have brakes that are 100% and will stay that way for a long time if you keep your eye on them a couple of times a year watching pads, boots and fluid. That 300 bucks will get you everything but the lines, even new pads, reverse solenoid, all that stuff.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

Did mine last year..count on nothing cooperating. Had to bust every nut due to rust. Everywhere the bushings were worn things started to oval so had to replace all the hangers. Found a crack in one of the leaves so carefully check them and for the price you may as well replace while youre there. And then after all is said and done youll probably need a trailer wheel alignment. Was a heck of a job but worth it

Thanks for the advice! Looks like I will be ordering some parts soon.

Dont order the parts until you need them.. Recent experiences suggests that if you order them today they will already be here as of yesterday.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

And then after all is said and done youll probably need a trailer wheel alignment. Was a heck of a job but worth it.How do you align trailer tires. I needed to replace one tire on my trailer (blow out) and when they took the tire off I noticed the front tire on that side was wearing very un-evenly. Inside side of the tire almost bald and middle to outside looke pretty good. Took the other two tires off on the other side and the same thing. Ended up replacing all four tires. Obviously I need to do this but how?

The axles need to be (a) parallel to each other and (b) perpendicular to the centerline of the trailer. A trailer shop can check this and adjust if needed. If you hit something hard, you can also bend the end of the axle outboard of the springs or bend the spindle itself, or anything in between. If the tires are not all tracking in the same plane, you will get odd wear patterns.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
