Heres my question. I have a 2011 Puma ftd. I had a flush mounted HDS 10 in the console. I am upgrading to Gen 3 12 touch units and was hoping to get a new console mounting assy from Precision Sonar to mount it to the console. like in the pics below. The problem is I dont have enough glass left in the dashboard from the previous cutout. I spoke with Randy at Precision Sonar and sent him pics of my console. His advise was to try and have a fiberglass guy fill it in with new Glass. Then Ill have the material needed to mount the new bracket. Not sure yet what the cost will be on that option and right now Im hoping to hear what others may have done to address this issue on their boats. The first pic is what I want to install from Precision Sonar. The second pic is my dash and the others are what Im planning to put on for the new mount. What would you guys at BassCat advise? I saw a new Caracal pic on facebook with a similar type bracket and the plate said BassCat on it. Does BassCat make these? I havent seen them in the BassCat store. Thanks in advance for all opinions / advise.
The one you saw on a Caracal was a Sherms mount. As far as the rest of your question I cant help ya but if it was me I would have a good glass guy fix it up for ya. Having a touch 12 at the helm is greatness. I have a Sherms mount with a 12 on my 09 cougar.
Ive got a HB 1198 on a Sherms mount, originally ordered boat with it flush mount but decided I liked the looks of it on a mount. Contacted Sherm at Sherms marine and his mount covers the entire cut out on my 2014 CougarFTD. If I were you Id contact Sherm and see what he can do for ya. Pretty sure it will be less expensive.
