Last boat for me was a Cougar AE. Great boat, was just too big for my type fishing. Have been interested in a Sabre ,but concerned about amount of room. Any thoughts?
basscatbat, thats one of those questions where the answer is six of one and half a dozen of another…..The Sabre FTD listed above is actually my brothers. I have fished out of it about 6 of the 12 times it has been off the trailer. Fishing out of his FTD I cannot really tell any difference between the deck space of it and my PII. My last 3 or four boats that I had before I got my PII were 21 boats. The thing is that, at that time, I was hardcore tournament fishing in Draw Tournaments and I needed the big lake capabilities of a 21 boat. Once I decided to quit those types of tournaments I wanted something that was easier to trailer, store, launch, load and maneuver for just fun fishing again. I went looking at the Sabre FTDs because they had plenty of storage and deck space yet it would be easy to handle. BassCat was running a Boat Show Special on the PII that I ended up with. I love the PII but I would be just as happy with the Sabre FTD. Dont get me wrong, the Sabre FTD and the PII can both fish tournaments and do it well. But when you are carrying 20 or 30 rod/reel combos and enough tackle in your boat to sustain Ebay, and a draw partner that brings at least half that much, then you really need the larger 21 boat. I now fish club tournaments, local team events, and/or just fish for fun with friends. I still carry too much gear but there is plenty of room to store it in either of the PII or the Sabre FTD. Barry just does not have the time to use this boat and its better to at least run one every few weeks rather than let it sit for a long time between uses. This FTD is about as close to new as you can get and he was very meticulous about the break in of the engine. It will make a great boat for someone..Last edited by xboater on August 25th, 2010, 1:19 am, edited 1 time in total.
Great reply. Thanks
Joe wish I had the coin right now. I would be taking it off his hands. Love the Silver and blue.

But now you and I both know that you are not going to be happy in anything less than a new Eyra with that new ProSHO 300HO hanging off the back of her ….. Nice rig!
Another Kudos to the Saber FTD. I fished in a Bass Pro Shops sponsored trail last year. All of our tournament waters were on good size reservoirs and my Sabre handled that water just fine. There were 88 boats in the field and we were in first place (points race) most of the year while fishing 80% of the tournaments out of my Sabre/150 HO Etec. That boat/motor combo will flat out scoot. That is one incredible boat. Also, That is a very good price considering the condition of the boat. Someone is going to get one very nice deal. Great colors too.
Hello, can you provide VIN numbers on the hull and motor so I can see what the bank will do on it? My name is Tim and my email address is [email protected]

My name is Tim and my email address is [email protected], if you have time give Barry a call, his number is listed in the first post. I think you will get a faster response as he may not be where he can check email for a few days……..
