May help to know what alarm? Smartcraft tell you anything? was it an over heat? Low oil? Water in fuel? Low voltage? And yes plug the nose cone when flushing the motor.

Whens the last time you changed the impeller? Thats where I would start.

thanks for the reply DSkaggs.I had the impeller and lower unit oil replaced about 2 weeks ago.I spoke to a local merc mechanic who thought the under cowling oil res might be a little low causing a one beep scenario.Im going to check that out today.He also said could be trash in stats not allowing them to open.soorry BCB about posting this in the 4 sale page, please move it to the other forum if you can.

My understanding is that it will only use power when actually sounding the horn in an alarm condition (open lid), so you should be able to leave it on indefinately.Dave

Sorry, they missed that one! The power drain is minimal and usually 6 weeks or so. The engine also is parasitic and pulls power 24/7.

Any harm in leaving the charger plugged in 24/7 if the hatch switch is depressed?

It has been suggested that if you want to leave a charger plugged in, it is best to have it on a timer instead of just leaving it on 24/7. For maintenance purposes 30 minutes-1 hour a day is plenty.
