Hi BCB team, I had a strange idea, but one that may be something useful. I have a P!V and I love it! The only thing I dont like is that I dont have room on the deck to fish if I lay my rods flat on the deck. SO….. If after double checking for clearance, I was thinking about drilling holes at deck level, then inserting tubes (like in rod locker) through the console, below the steering wheel to allow my rod tips to rest in the console gaining about 12-18″Has anyone thought of this or have any good ideas for solutions?Thank you, Doug
sounds interestingdrill baby drill
Slots and tubes were considered at many stages of design. Aligning them accurately when placing them on the deck was the concern. We understand BCB has always liked the concept and they gave reasons the tubes, or slots, werent moved forwards.
I was thinking maybe 6 or 8 tubes under the BassCat Logo. I think I could get some used for golf bags, cut them to length, then put foam inside to protect the tips. I just dont want to mess anything up. lol

I have drilled holes in my boat for mounting graphs, lights, and culling ring holders, . I have cut holes in my boat for speakers and GPS modules. When it comes to inserting tubes into the console….youve got bigger cajones than me. My concern would be water running into the tubes and adding extra moisture under the console as well as soaking my legs.
How Many rods are you laying on your deck? I have a PIV also and routinely lay 10-12 rods and have plenty room.
1. Theres a support collar in the console.2. Consoles are not fully supported above the mounting surface if excess is removed. 3. Wiring, gauges and other mounted acessories are below the deck level on the faces.4. Dual consoles will be into the storage and create puddling.5. Steering helm and wiring is also a consideration as they are lower than realized.
I am considering a Caracal and that is my only concern with the boat. I am right handed and generally like to cast to the left side of the boat. I prefer to have my rods behind me while fishing and I would not like my rods by the net holder. I can see rods going overboard when pulling out the net. The shorter deck on the Caracal doesnt seem to be long enough for your rods on the starboard side of the deck. It looks to me like they could move the seats and move the drivers console toward the center of the boat about 4″ which would add space for the rod tips by the console. I know this would eliminate the passenger rod box, but who uses that anyway? I only see this being useful if you are traveling overnight with a co-angler who needs to lock their rods up. The passenger rod box also reduces the size of the storage behind the passenger seat. I would much prefer a standard rod ramp for the passenger (like the Eyra or other 20 boats), with a larger storage box behind the passenger seat, and room for the rod tips by the drivers console? What do others think? I would like to hear from someone with a Caracal. I still love the Caracal, dont get me wrong, I just feel that would be a better layout for most anglers. The Lynx seems to be built this way. Of course the front deck on the Lynx is probably long enough for your rods to lay in front of the console. They Lynx is nearly perfect, Havent priced a Lynx yet but Im sure its a lot more expensive than the Caracal. I like the wide deck of the Caracal and Lynx but this is my only problem with the Caracal and I may choose the Cougar for this very reason. Just my .02 cents worth. Would like to know what others and BCB thinks about this.

Im almost against parking her at my mommas house if you know what I mean. There is plenty of room up front for all the gear you need. Super stable while fishing but all cat when the hot foot is mashed and trimmed to the sky. Rides awesome in the rough stuff. And she fishes super skinny.
