I bought my Bass Cat last year and noticed that my MK trolling motor didnt have a bounce buster…didnt think anything of it besides a quick question and dealership said it was removed to be used on another boat or something and stated that one would be ordered. never got it…..obviously at some point and time of riding the 4 foot swells at guntersville, my TM has somehow banged into the cap of my boat when stowed and knocked a hole in the cap?! not complete whole, but its a whole to me on a new boat. any remedy to fix this BCB? opinions? advise? consolement?
Pics? Certainly I would be bummed as well.I have a 52″ 101 on an 09 ftd and cant imagine even with the bounce buster off what it could hit? The gunnel? Did the head hit it?Last edited by clownshoes on January 14th, 2011, 4:10 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Jr. III
unfortunately i am at work at this moment but will get some up tomorrow….its more considered a “heavy” chip i guess….looks to be close to the fiberglasss.
FourTrex brackets dont come with bounce busters on 80 series, only on the 101 models. The mark in the deck is probably a chip and send a pic to [email protected].
i actually think it was the motor frame that hit…i tried forcing it left and right with my hands and couldnt get it to move much.? so im not sure when it occured…but when you fish at gville, i feel like im on tour with the PBR
Looked at the pics of the boat in your profile- I guess it was the bracket that the string goes into hitting the gunnel huh? Man Id let out a big fat “DA–IT” too.If its small and on the inside edge of the gunnel on top cap I imagine a local glass shop with some premix silver flake gel and some clear gel from BCB can get it looking pretty good without doing a big area. Top inside of the gunnel with silver flake should be easily repaired to a “good” result. Not an area anyone really looks at much so it should turn out ok-I had a 3″ gouge to the metal flake right in the middle of the cap insert on my silver boat and Garry up at Mtn Home made it perfect- I cant even find it if I try.Just be glad the top cap isnt black or a malibu color. Not so easy to fix. Silver has serious advantages for scratches/dirt. Last edited by clownshoes on January 14th, 2011, 4:21 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Jr. III
Just fyi: did not want this to be a negative review of bass cat by any means….i have loved every second of my boat and will not consider owning anything but a Bass Cat. just unfortunate circumstance and i wanted to clear it up that its just a minor incident and will gladly sacrifice a “chip” in a bass cat than to have “non-chipped” ranger ha….thanks BCB
Yeah when i saw it, i nearly fell out of the boat. I appreciate your advice and will look into that. and please excuse my termonolgy when referring to boat parts. i just make things up as i go and if i say something wrong just call me a retard and correct me…and yes the silver comes in handy when hiding scratches
Terminology?Heck I just called it the part that the “string”goes into! Here in Little Rock we have a trolling motor guru that we all use- Gary Hubble- most of us dont know part names til Gary has to order us a new one!No negatives vibes at all Sthomas- A lot of us would cough up a lung if something scratched ours too-One other thing- Id check those mount screws as I figure that the tm had to bend back a little to get there-C.O.D. having trouble uploading the photos….can someone give me a rundown please?
Load them to your profile page and you should see an image button at the very top ofnthe page next to your login name.
Looks to be totaled!! Kidding, I bet BassCat could send you a touch up kit and make an easy fix out of it.
Yep, that one is pretty simple. Hurtmyour pride much more than your finish.
well you know it could be possible that i might have over reacted…..just wanted to be sure i took care of it the right way. either way, thanks to all the advice.
