I have put my PIII up for the winter and started deer hunting. I have been reading the posts on battery maintenance and I have a question. I keep my boat covered and under a carport when not in use. Will it be alright not to ventilate the battery compartments as I usually do if I just charge the batteries for a few minutes each day. I dont want to leave the boat uncovered and it would be a real pain to uncover it daily. Thanks in advance.

How about taking the batteries out of the cat and charge them the way you want to?

For a ten minute segment, there would be minimal build up of hydrogen gasses. BCB

I had thought about taking the batteries out also, brewcat, but I dont have three chargers and I am not always around to change out the one charger I have. Thanks for the info BCB. I will charge them daily for about 10 min. in the boat after I get a full charge on all three batteries.

Ive always just propped open the rear lid with something small to vent the area, then put the cover on the boat, and plugged up the charger on an outdoor timer (Full charge after fishing, then timer charge after that). The timer turns on for 15-30 minutes per day, and you dont ever have to think about plugging and uplugging your boat. Never have to take cover on/off either. Hope that helps. 10-4 on propping open the back lids. I will do that and I already have a timer I was planning on using. Thanks for the advice.
