Topic: Another rub rail issue

I have an problem with the insert on my rub rail (2005 Puma). I got caught in tight traffic letting my partner off the ramp dock and the boat bumped or rubbed along the wood dock several times, not hard but bumped. This caused the insert to come out of the rail and sitck out in a loop maybe 12″. I pushed it back in along the port rear side and when I got to the back I now have “extra” or excess insert. What do I need to do to correct this? I checked and there are no breaks anywhere in the insert so I assume I streached the material?

Call BCB they will send you some rivets!! Drill out old ones with a #11 drill bit an then put new rivets in hole and just pull them with a regular hand held rivet puller.

I think hes saying the insert stretched. This has happened to me several times. Instead of working it to the back, start in the back and work forward. It will fit in and look fine.

If it is just the round center part like rubber tubing, it should just work its way back around the channel. Heat will cause it to stretch some, cold will contract it. We had the center part pop out on my brothers 06 Cougar at the back end while at Toledo Bend, just popped it back in. You pull more out and force it in in sections with small remnants left hanging out to pop in in sections. This should be able to all go back in.
