I have a 2000 Cougar and have a question about the trailer. When you raise the lever on the top of hitch should it move what I would refer to as the paw or shoe? I am referring to the part that latches under the bottom of the ball when it is all the way down. I noticed the last time or two I used it this paw or shoe (whatever its called) would support the weight of the trailer not allowing the hitch to go down over the ball, it would essentially just sit on the top of the ball. I got to looking at it this weekend and if you raise or lower the lever on the top of the hitch this part that I am referring to wont move, you can however move it with your hand I sprayed it down with WD40 and havent tried it on the ball since.
