I need to get insurance in placefor my new to me Sabre FTD before I pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday. I had intended to just go with my auto insurance company (Erie) that Ive had for 22 years, but my lender offered to give me a quote from Progressive and the price and coverage seem really good. What really started to convince me was the Propulsion Plus coverage which covers damage or mechanical failure in the lower unit until the boat is 21 years old.Anyways, anyone have this coverage, and how do you like it?its about $300/year with $500 deductible, boat valued a NADA of $30,000, t$300,000 liability ($100,000 per person) $5000 coverage on gear not bolted to the boat (rods, tackle, etc.), $1000 coverage on personal property, and the Propulsion Plus coverage…2011 Sabre FTD w/ Mercury 150 Pro XS, Power Pole Sportsman 2s, Humminbird 898 w/ 360 and 858 at bow, 898 at ConsoleFor lots of BCB love, follow me on instagram: @professorbeard
Thats sounds like a good deal! Better than mine. Im gonna get a quote from them
I am thru progressive, at this time dealing with a claim. It has been the best experience I have had. Paid up right when the adjuster came to look at the boat. Dealer thinks highly of progressive. Good luck.
I just cancelled my insurance with them ! They covered part of my claim and blamed the rest on my brakes . That did not make any sense so I complained at which time they blame basscat trailers . The whole thing was nonsense , good bye they lost my buissiness over $ 200 more on a claim . Im insured through a company that does tournament anglers insurance now ( better coverage and it cost me $100 less ) . Ha ! The point is a was real happy with progressive on the phone for paying them and signing up , and had the opossite experience in making a claim !
I have had progressive for 8 years. Have had only one small claim which was handled very well. They dont seem to go up in price every year at an excessive rate like some companies Ive used. Very happy.
Ive had good experience with Progressive as well. I just had a pretty large claim and it was handled very well. As said above, the adjustor gave me a check on the spot.
Regardless of who you use for insurance, I would suggest speaking with Bob Luellen at Worldwide Marine. You will more in a 20 minute conversation with him about boat insurance than most agents that sell it know. I opted to go with World Wide this year because the cost was about the same, 3 x the liability coverage, and it came with an agreed upon value for the boat/trailer/motor if totaled instead of what most P&C insurance companies use to determine a boats value.
Agree with above. Call Bob. He knows what a fisherman needs. I did have to spend a day taking photos of all my equipment and sending it to him. He cut my cost in half and doubled my coverage. He went through Progressive.
Another vote for Bob Luellen. He is a bass fisherman, used to be a tournament fisherman, may still fish in some. He has access to many different companies from which to chose the right fit for each individual boat owner. When I lived near the coast, he couldnt beat the price or coverage I got from Boat US. He advised me to go with them. When I moved back to the corn fields of Indiana, I called Bob once again and he was able to find great coverage at a great price.
