Have a job offer in this area, but know nothing about the area. Any info would be appreciated.
How the heck is anybody going to get in touch with you Scott. I cannot get you to answer or return my calls !!! Love the rod you got for me. Is one fine rod and I personially have never owned one this good. Hopefully I can put it to good use in the next couple months. This spiral wrap is something I have never used either. Not sure I would ever buy one but for the price I got this one for, no way I could ever complain !!!!! LOL You need to call me Scott. Would like to meet the guy that builds these things. Joey
Hi Scott, I do not live in Yucca but do live in Arizona and have for the past 25 years. For me to move to Yucca it would have to be a hell of a job offer. You can expect 110+ degree summers lasting for about 5 months. There is not much going on in Yucca, as a matter of fact with my 25 years in Arizona, I have yet to meet anyone who has lived there or is moving there. The nearest city is Kingman, and a few folks do live there, but still it is more or less a place to gas up for traffic going to Vegas from Phoenix. You will be about 2 hours from Las Vegas and close to some big water in Lake Havasu and Lake Mohave. Can be some great fishing in the fall and spring as long as you can dodge the traffic. Really too hot to fish during the summer, although some people brave it. Oh did I mention it gets really hot and stays really hot for an extended period of time. I know folks say it is a dry heat and my answer to that is turn your oven on to 115 degrees and climb in it for 6 months and let me know how dry it is. It can be 2 AM and still be 105 outside. So in short, there is a reason why it has Yuc, in its name and it is in the middle of nowhere. Of course, like I said I have not lived there.Jason Desertdweller.com Get Your Bass in the Boat!
Dweller, Thank you for your response, unfortunately everyone says the same. Joey, You know my phone situation and that has not changed. You have already met the builder (me) it was my first one. I did have some major help but I figured you would like it. The look at moving is plain and simple………stress…………drink too much and worry too much. Dr. put my behind on Zanax and I refuse to take it. So, I gotta do something before I ruin my health and ruin my life. Again Dweller thank you and I would love to talk to you personally……I understand it is my decision, but info is great.
Joey, have used a spiral wrap rod for quite a few years. It really is awesome, you can cast it a mile and be accurate as well. Would not hesitate a bit to buy another. After using it, you will see a difference. The jigs are doing well on Amisted and hope to see you soon at the GAF. pant 2 Bob
Those were originally named Roberts Wraps. BCB
Man you guys must study your stuff. Not many people …..around this area at least know who oringinaly started this in 1908. Mainly fished as an offshore rig set up ……..but I personally think it improves distance and control. I figured the first time Joey hooked up on his jigs I would get a phone call ( which he will get pissed due to my phones selective answering system….kinda like my hearing) and say he wanted twelve more………..(inside joke) for the same price. Roberts wrap unfortunately fell by the wayside……I think the quote was ” why spend thousands marketing something that a million dollars has conquered”, I may be wrong, but I know that offshore caught on and inshore did not. Joey has seen some of the beautiful rods that a friend has built and they are all spiral or Acid wrap and for crankbaits and Jigs they cannot be beat. Dweller……Thank you again and for some reason I have not heard anyone say anything great about Yucca except…… +2s during spring break down there. (+2s for the ones that dont know are a certain body part…….well ………………………………….+2 sizes)
Sounds like a place for Rattle Snakes and Horny Toads. Glynn
Well, the toad part you are correct……………but man would I hate for the two to meet.I dont think my wife would understand why I am fishing in Party cove! But then again if you are catching ” fish” ….what is the problem.Man I hope there is a Costco near there! Kidding…………… my wife is great ….and I am sure she would get along with my other girlfriend! ……………………………………………………………………………at my funeral!
Scott, give me a call when you have the time. Was talking about the guy that is showing you how to build these things when I inquired. Would like to meet him sense he lives out here by me some where. This rod was build on a St. Croix blank. Is one really fine rod to say the least. Is a 7 heavy action with a soft tip and lots of back bone in the middle. Has a split grip for the handle. Words cannot begin to say how much I appreciate the fine gift and hope to put it to good use one day really soon. I have casted and fished with it once although I was not fortunate to have the right bait tied on. I will though here in the very near future. That I can promise. Thanks Again and hope you make the right decisions. The only thing I know to say and this comes from experience. The grass is not always Greener and money is not always everything !!!!! Although it does help !!!! Take Care Joey
