Anyone running a Bravo or Hydromotive?

As for Hydromotive it will cost plenty to find what you like in their propellers and while they are quality, there’s a price you  will pay for that option. PowerTech makes some nice props also and they are a little more mainstream.

Good post as you are correct, as every propeller must be height adjusted independently with a load. Then when you change a propeller that process starts all over. Most people just assume changing a propeller is the goal, then assume they can tweak it later on height. Each propeller must be tuned in height before a decision is made, and that must be done under the maximum load you intend to run with. All loads lighter will run fine, though you will not loose tremendous performance heavy. If you tune heights lightly loaded, then the rig will loose a tremendous amount of performance when it’s loaded, which is how most boats run in event conditions. Mid range also suffers accordingly.

Everyone talks about the price of a Hydromotive, but I didn’t find that to be the case.  $625 for the prop. No more expensive than a Merc these days.

I ordered one and received it today. I’m going to have to send it back for a little change, so that’ll be another $20 plus shipping. Still not terrio.

TNReb, my brother used to run Hydromotive 4 blade on his Cougar FTD.  It was well regarded as one of the faster Cougar FTDs in it’s heyday.  It was a “bumble bee” color-black, yellow with red trim stripes, powered by the Mercury 250 XS from the racing division.  That boat was a beast.  Like was mentioned, he spent a lot of time talking with the engineers at Hydromotive, providing run numbers, JP settings, loads, etc.  The prop that they built him, the Hydromotive Quad IV X O/B, was a 26 pitch that he nicknamed “The Judge”.

With tournament loads and GPS speeds witnessed between 84-86 mph, it was a very special boat…Good luck!
